As @deb4rockets has said it takes 6-12 months to train a new trainee. Trump can't just install random loyalists into the position. That's not how this works. Hes literally destroying the entire airline industry
I didn't say 6-12 months. Maybe one position, but not all of them. Every situation is different though, and each position you train on gets more complex. It all boils down to previous experience, and the complexity of air traffic. There are numerous types of air traffic control facilities, and all types of towers. Even an experienced controller could take 1-4 years to fully qualify on all positions at a new tower. It's all going to depend on how much training they get every day, how complex the traffic is, and how quickly they can master the knowledge and skills for each position in the tower. Once you qualify on a position you may get stuck working that position a lot before training much on the next position. It depends how undermanned a facility is. That's just tower controllers. Then you have all the different other radar controlled facilities who control all types of airspace between airports. I doubt their training takes any less time to complete.

There were multiple stories today how parents of the deceased folks in the plane crash started crying when they heard Trump talk about DEI instead of addressing their concerns. Its just sad what hes doing to America. Now hes slapping 25% tariffs on everything and grocery prices are about to explode. Its literally all for nothing

Agreed - but he can do it most likely and it will weaken the effectiveness of the agency but he is okay with that.
My comment had nothing to do with Trump. The fact is people in this thread are taking positions on either side of the DEI conversation when nobody really knows. It's an odd accident ... or even possibly intentional according to some, that should have been preventable. But layers of beaucracy, one way or another, contributed to an event that should have been prevented. Whether it was DEI, overworked traffic controller, antiquated systems or a whole host of other issues. The reality is 'thoughts and prayers' won't prevent the next accident.
