The only downside about him is he’s way better against LHP and we need someone who can hit RHP.

I’d still take him though if the price was right, especially with not knowing what we are going to get out of Chas.

I am surprised he went back to Seattle. If I was him, I would have taken less elsewhere (like here if we were really offering $5M and playing time) and tried to bounce back.

The answer is probably very simple. Seattle offered more $$$$$

In any case I hope we got a resolution sooner rather than later.

Arenado is still a real possibility for the Astros.

All this time for Bregman to still go to the Tigers or Red Sox?

Do you know if the idea of trading Paredes for an OF is even a thing the front office is even actively discussing?

Astros are offering 6 years at lower AAV and Red Sox are offering a higher AAV for less years.

The Astros and Red Sox have been a little miffed at Boras coming back wanting PO's and early OO...

I don't know what the Astros will ultimately do - but Brown knows they have Arenado as an option if Crane will spend the money for him.

Bregman is likely the better player in 2025 - but Arenado at 3rd does have positive value IMO.

Bowden put the idea of flipping Paredes but lost some credibility saying altuve was good defensively.
Would Altuve move to left for Arenado?

What I was told is that they have had a hard time discussing plausible trades for Paredes because of the level of team control - his age - and his production all are major pluses for the Astros. So it is hard to find a trade partner that will match close to his value in trade from the outfield position.

Someone mentioned the outfielder from the Red Sox that was an Astros field hand, in a possible deal - but the Astros are concerned that guy is a future platoon bat and the Sox want to see what happens with Bregman first.

I was told a more likely possibility is the Astros trading pitching for another outfielder.

Yes - Altuve just wants to win.

The Astros believe he would move if it improved the team.

Arrighetti or Blanco for an OF then signing a depth SP like Lynn or Junis or Heaney seems like a good move to me if the trade value makes sense.

Wilyer Abreu. His splits are pretty bad but even if he was just a platoon bat for us, he would be a very valuable asset (0.842 OPS vs RHP).

I think trading for him makes more sense than Arenado.

I agree but wouldn’t want to trade Paredes for him straight up. I would want to Sox to add a meaningful prospect.

I’m pretty high on Arighetti. His feel for pitching and especially his secondary pitches leads me to believe his ceiling is a MOR SP for a legit contender and possibly a #2. With 5 years of team control remaining- I’m only letting him go for a star caliber/star potential position player with multiple years of control.

Yeah, I'm not suggesting trading Paredes at all. He's only 25 and his swing is a perfect fit for Daikin Park.

If Breggy goes elsewhere, and if we can't trade for a guy like Abreu, then I think our best bet is to sign Verdugo for about $5M to stay under the CBT.

Yea, I am not high on trading Spaghetti, IMO he has a huge upside, and the team has control for the next few years
