You think the coaches of the 29 other teams voted for him because of "the Turkey aspect"? Why would the coaches care about that at all? Get real dude.
All star is a popularity contest, always has been. Curry is on a 11th seed and got in bc of his brand/name. Man could b sitting on the bench and planning to retire and still get in. We are the second best in the west and we only got one person in via reserve. If the all star were based on merit and team standings, u can see why there are folks who would think Green deserves it over curry. I'm sure there are more deserving guards that deserves to get in over curry.
Sengun is not the best scorer of Rockets, but it is clear that he is the brain and brings basketball iq, intelligence to this team. His decisions, plays, pass and creativity from post helps us finish these last minute 1 or 2 point difference games. This makes him MVP of this team. He does not need to throw away all balls to the basket to the score like Jalen or Cam Whitmore. He looks for right plays, he is a basketball player, taken his fundamental in Europe, where basketball iq and fundamentals are praised, not raw athleticism or street basketball. He is not looking for making his stats. We beat Boston, he scored only 11 points but 9 asists.. when did you last see a center malking asists in range 8 or 9's except Jokic? No one... He does not need to be 25 points a game player, his post presence, court vision, passing, unselfish and all time right play looking game makes him unbeatable, even in his bad matches.. Who could guess in 2021 Rockets made trade in draft and get the best passer and highest iq center after Jokic from Turkey??? Life is interesting. If 2021 draft remade, he is #2 or at worse #3... And this shows the ignorance and bias of NBA coaches, just like Jokic draft between commercials in 20 seconds?
Merit is absolutely not a reason to put a vastly inferior player in over a vastly superior player. It would be literally the opposite of merit. No rational person could say that jalen has been better than curry this season, there’s not a single thing to support it. Even if you want to look at team success (which is irrelevant since we’re just talking about one player vs another), the warriors are better with steph than rockets with jalen. Do you think sengun is more deserving than jokic? Where do you draw the line?
Lol, must hurt to be wrong so often. I bet you are the type to think the earth is flat and the holocaust never happened.
We missed him in the last minutes of the game last night. Seems like the only offense we have without him is contested threes and driving into the paint and praying for a foul

Sengun was one of the highest ranked offensive talents in that draft for the analytics crowds(and Garuba was a top 3 defensively by the metrics) - that's why we took the opportunity to draft him because we saw a drastic disconnect between what the analytics said, and what traditional scouts were saying. The questions for him at draft time was twofold: - people knew he had game, but could he play defense well enough to be a starter or even better a starter on a playoff team? - how much did you believe his European league stats would translate to the NBA? As I understand it, the Turkish league he came from was one of the better Euro leagues and had relatively strong correlations between stats there translating into NBA play. Thankfully our front office did the legwork and were able to cut through some the biases other front offices had.
