Cam would be gone with the quickness... If he turns into a 23+ ppg scorer in the near future on a bad team , then good for him... He wasn't gonna do it here no damn way.
Personally I think the league realizes as a whole they messed up in evaluating Cam, and that the concerns they had regarding Cam Whitmore were not justified. I think folks who felt he was a fringe top 5 pick were onto something. Even the Rockets mentioned that they seriously considered Cam as a pick at 4 at one point in the draft process. I can see why the went after Amen, but Cam is unequivocally more talented than the spot he got drafted.
Who, exactly, are you referencing? If Chicago, then obviously it'd be more than just Cam. If the Rockets...why?
I wish I saw what everyone else sees in Cam. The last 10 games, he’s gotten pretty good run — 20 mpg with 11/5/1.3 splits on a .56 TS%, primarily against backups. That point total is obviously solid given the minutes, and it is great that he’s been averaging .4 from 3, but none of it is earth-shattering given he really doesn’t play defense or pass. To be clear, I think he’s a really good prospect that I’d only trade for a really solid package. He’s just far from untouchable.
And most of us wish we saw what you saw in Jalen Green. So maybe your JG bias makes you hate Cam more.
Codman sees all the people starting useless threads and slides absolute bombs deep in giant threads. What a legend.
He's absolutely been better lately on both ends--legitimately a productive bench player since returning. However, his numbers on the season as a whole are still fairly poor, that's how godawful his start to the season was. I'm not willing to just throw out his entire first stretch of the season, he didn't go down to the G-League and have somebody re-program him into a whole new person. His bad play early on is still part of the sample, part of what he has produced as a person and a player, and I think it's indicative of some real issues. I do believe he has a lot more talent than his draft slot would suggest, but he also appears to have more issues with the mental side of the game than the average prospect. He's really young. Maybe maturity will fix that. But I don't think his value is as high as some around here believe, for the same reasons he fell in the draft--teams don't trust his character.
The great thing about our team being so good on the court, is that we get to be opportunistic with all our transactions. Like OKC. I strongly doubt there is any intention to trade Cam (or Reed for that matter) this season. Certainly not for the "market value" of those guys. BUT, "market value" isn't actually concrete for young players. It's an eye of the beholder league. Every FO evaluates these guys differently. If some FO comes along and is especially enamored of Cam or Reed, and is motivated to do a transaction that our FO really really likes, I could see us taking advantage of that opportunity. Otherwise we'd be super happy to keep both. Look at the Caruso for Josh Giddey trade. Most of the league didn't value Josh Giddey at all. The Bulls liked him more than anyone and the Thunder took advantage of that to "fleece" them in the eyes of the league. That's what you can do when you're in a position of strength.
The last ten games, Green has averaged 25 points on a .62 TS% against starters. But sure, the guy averaging 11 points on a .56 TS% against backups in the same stretch is clearly the future.
you don't trade your 20 year old explosive bulldog with superstar potential for a bunch of scrubs! seriously. stop it.
Not sure who you're talking about. We don't have a 20 year old with superstar potential on our team. there's only 2 20 year olds on our team, Cam and Reed
Marcus Sasser + Detroit's 2025 FRP for Cam. The Rockets should only do this trade IF they think Cam will not reach near his potential. IMO the Rockets like Cam more than a quality backup PG and a mid FRP.
I view Cam as an OKC-Harden level player. With what he's shown at 20, he definitely has superstar potential IMO.
Cam does have a lot of potential but he's a generational level ballhog. One of the worst of all time. And he gets pouty when he's not allowed to be that. Maybe it gets coached out and he becomes a star but maybe it doesn't and he's Von Wafer. I'm not trading him for a role player but he's far from untouchable imo.
