And after the game, Ime said "I like our versitility where we can hide Alpie on some guys". Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

It wasn't a good game from him, but the flipside is, the Pistons went 8-23 against him (8-12 against Amen).

I heard that comment and felt that it was very unnecessary and uncalled for, especially as Alpi played GREAT defense in the 4th quarter.

BTW, Ime also said that Alpi only took 10 shots, but got everyone else involved and was unselfish.

Intensity on defense was off the charts, don't know what the casuals are watching.

Match ups change from game to game. Go to a Pistons fanboard there are idiots there complaining about Duren in the Pick and roll

If you're a PF or a Center in today's nba, you're going to get "hunted." why is this concept so difficult for some of you.
Hmmm center on guard..hmm. So it's smart how Ime hides him by blitzing/ trapping ball handler and roaming back to the paint. If Jabari Smith was roided up playing center, guess what.. he is still getting hunted and getting got by the guards. Best defender on the floor, advanced ratings, last night

@aelliott - as great a poster as he is - just has the same bias as certain other people when it comes to Sengun. It is what it is. Once you are in that corner, you only see what confirms your bias. If Ime says Alpi got everyone else involved and also says they were hiding Alpi on certain matchups, you will quote the bit that confirms your bias. Works the other way around as well, of course - human nature.

I mean, Alpi had 9 assists, 2 steals and only 1 turnover against Boston. He scored the go-ahead basket a few seconds before the game ended. He played his heart out on defense in the 4th quarter.

Amen and Dillon were amazing, but Alpi, Fred and Jalen all contributed heavily.

This. The one where Tatum finally crossed him 1 on 1 Alpi immediately recovered from the blow-by to get back on the open man in the corner and almost stole the pass. That was not an easy rotation to sniff out after just getting beat and having your eyes away from the basket.

Honestly, there was no more Alperen Sengun play than that. His slow-feet - relative to a first-team All-NBA wing in Tatum - and habit of reaching got him in a bit of trouble but his effort, length, and IQ got him back in the play to make a meaningful defensive contribution to the possession.

And of course the blitzes where the double sticks he's just a legit good to great defender.

Yeah, not sure about what Ime's context was. But every team has to find ways to "hide" their centers including DOY Rudy Gobert from being hunted by quick guards.

    Yesterday's hustle stats:

Alpi 4 screen assists, 4 deflections, 3 loose balls recovered, 4 box outs (led the team in all these categories).

None of that has anything to do with my response. I was replying to a comment that said he was only inconsistent against big centers. That is simply not true. Neither Pistons center is particularly big and they guarded him straight up. Not sure what that has to do with being hunted.

Sorry that my continuing to say that he's a very good player makes you feel that I'm bias. I thought Harden was the 2nd greatest Rocket ever, but I didn't pretend that he was a great defender.

How do you measure good defense?

    Any metrics you believe in?

I think the “Sengun triple teamed” stuff should be laid to rest. He has struggled going one on one, and it’s not like he’s just missing. Shot blocked twice, layup attempt thrown at 80 mph because he was out of control. Even Holiday stymied him one on one. The Rockets aren’t even looking for him down the stretch.

Definitely a burner, I guess when you realize you are about the only one left in the hater wagon and nobody is agreeing with you, the next step is to simply create fake accounts to support your view.

Actually, I was wrong - ALL his posts are "hate Sengun" posts.

I think we have an idea where that might be coming from.
