I'm a documentary producer in the research phase of a project about fans of Hakeem. “The Dream” impacted many people in the 1990s, but we need help finding these people from that era:
    • American-Muslims whose lives were transformed by the example Hakeem set through his faith and character.
    • Non-Muslims who learned about Islam through being a fan of Hakeem and this changed their perception of that religion and their life in some way.
Do you happen to fit into those two groups or know anyone that fits into either?

If so, please email me more info.

    Thank you,

    Conall Jones

The author Mirin Fader wrote the latest autobiography on Hakeem...... she also researched a lot, maybe you 2 can exchange information.

She has a story even on the Muslim(s) that transformed Hakeem......

So, it is a propagandamentary to show Islam in a positive light, based upon fandom of Hakeem?

Pass - love Hakeem - hate religion.

On what DD said or the OP ask? I am aware of Islam now only through the book, not in the 90s.

I'm not a religious man myself and this isn't promoting one religion over another. It's much bigger than that. We happen to love telling stories about underdogs and Hakeem in the early 90s, he happened to use his faith to focus on what he valued most. The rest is history.

His faith centered him, but he was already a great basketball player without it. One could argue that he was still selfish as a player until he got wacked in the eye by Bill Cartwright and Hakeem was out for nearly a month and the Rockets went on a 15 game win streak without him, it was there he realized the rest of the players were good as well, and he came back from that break a completely different TEAM FIRST player.

Now folks can look at it as a religious inspired situation, but I believe it was more pragmatic - Islam calmed him down, and made him more peaceful on the court, but he was always a competitor - which is just who he is.

What is it? What can you tell that's not being told already? Bigger than that... Exciting but that sounds vague.

Appropriate response, versus video game impresario telling successful documentarian how to handle his next project. But CF gonna CF. :D

No one is telling him how to handle making his movie - I just believe it is pure propaganda for Islam.

Like lot's of this horrible Christian movies lately.......

FFS, let's get a UCF showdown between Jesus and Mohammad and let the winner face off against Buda.
