The thing is though Kawhi doesn't have the PG skills that Amen has. Truth is, if he gets a jump shot he's going to be some unique player we've never really seen. If he doesn't get a jump shot though and just becomes bigger stronger faster into his prime even then he becomes like a smaller Giannis. With a jumpshot though I don't know what to really call him. Just Amen. I don't think his jumpshot will ever be as good as Kawhi's though, like I don't know if we'll ever see him taking guys off the dribble with it. I think it'll be more of a set shot that he takes because guys backed too far off of him.
Yeah, peak Iggy looks like his floor right now, Iguodala couldn't do any of this at 21 years old. I still have a rich man's Scottie Pippen with more athleticism as his ceiling, which is a terrifying player. We'll see if he fulfills it, but watching these guys grow is great. We're one of the most exciting teams in the league
Amen is the next Kawhi smoothie blended with Wemby. Kawhi was pure defense like Amen but then developed an offense, something I see Amen doing. I think Amen is going to be the next Kawhi but more athletic.
Truly. Honestly. All bullshit aside. IF we develops a respectable shot....MVP candidate. Right now? All 1st team all Defense. All-Star.
The scary thing about Amen is, because of his unique combination of athleticism and makeup, his ceiling truly is something the league has never seen before. I agree with others here in saying that Iguodala is now his floor. Already this year he's a top 40 NBA player, best on our team (maybe Sengun is also top 40, but until he gets his efficiencies up, Amen is better this year). Next year I'm expecting a top 25 player out of him. And that's including the absence of a threatening outside shot (I'd expect a 30% 3pt clip for next year with average development and a still very favorable shot profile). If he develops his shot, that's the ceiling outcome. It's Russell Westbrook but 6'7 with a 7'1 wingspan. Shawn Marion with court vision. Ben Simmons with heart. He might never become a heliocentric offensive player in the Cade->Luka->2019 Harden mold. But he could certainly orchestrate an offense as the de facto PG and be a seamless ball-moving piece on a top 10 offense, a la MVP Westbrook. In fact, his court vision might be even better than Westbrook's. And then on defense, it's game over. Perennial first team all-defense; I can't say DPOY as long as Wemby is in the league. Maybe Wemby goes through some Ralph Sampson-like pains; in those years Amen can win DPOY.
When I spoke with the actual Iggy about the Rockets, he did say he liked Amen, but he couldn't remember his name and mostly remembered that his brother had a blood clot. However, that was before this season.
