We are in violent agreement I think. The sooner both Amen and Tari are starting the better. Jalen just doesn't fit with this starting unit unless he can start to hit 3's. He especially needs to play in a wide open fast environment to succeed. Sengun, FVV, and Jalen do not fit. At the very least, Amen needs to start for Dillon. You would still have 2 really good defenders in Brooks and Tari coming off the bench. In this scenario, we would need to trade for a reliable combo guard to facilitate the offense. Sheppard and Holiday are just not good enough this year. I will hand it to FVV. I have never seen him get to the hoop like he is this year and he is playing faster. My fear is as the season progresses both FVV and Dillon will fall back into their more comfortable selves. I'd rather Ime was more proactive than reactive and get Amen and Tari into the starting unit as soon as possible.
Yeah I don't think we can get rid of both FVV and Brooks simultaneously and it so happens we have two excellent SF's. I don't mind Brooks coming off the bench, but honestly I'd rather get help at another position. Especially shooting at the backup 4/5.
For people who complain about Dillon Brooks' inconsistent shooting, remember that he's a role player. He takes the 5th most shots of any rotation player on this team, only ahead of Jabari/Reed/Amen. And this is despite playing on an offensive-challenged team. Ideally, Brooks should be shooting less because better shooters are shooting more. Ideally, Sheppard and Jabari should be taking 2+ of his 3pt attempts each game. Amen should take a few of his drives. But the issue is that the Rockets have a bad offensive roster that is forcing Brooks to play too big of a role on offense.
I think there was a bug yesterday. Dillon has indeed been on the court without Alpi. He is only +0.6 when Alpi is not on the court. With Alpi, he is +18.5.
The whole team feeds off of Brooks and Ime's persona.... Dillon has been perfect for these young guys and after what he went through in Memphis, The Rockets have been perfect for him.....
If he had made that one to give us the lead, it would been just outstanding since he was only 1 short of his career high. This game should’ve been it!
