Amen can score 15 point a game just by collecting his teammates' garbage.

Yeah, I watch him play and watch his attitude both on the court and in interviews... my bet is that this is his team by the end of next season.

At least you are able to admit that. Some people will just double and triple down on stupidity. I know at least one poster here like that.

Dwight Howard approves of collecting his teammates junk.

I'm glad that Amen has a complementary role for now, but he's capable of much more. He is actually decent at self-creation. He was 4/5 on non-assisted shots against the Cavs, including a nice spin fadeaway against Mobley in the lane. That was half of his field goals made, but everyone would think he was off ball entirely. That's the beauty of his game, he can drop these 20+ point games in a very limited role without breaking a sweat. That's on top of guarding the other team's best player and owning the glass.

    Video and Shotcharts | Stats | NBA.com

For someone with an off-ball role, only 50% of Amen's field goals are unassisted. Yet he maintains sky high efficiency on all attempts inside the arc. Contrast that with a player in a similar role in Aaron Gordon, who in Denver has about 62% of his 2pt field goals assisted (down to 56% this year). When Gordon was in Orlando he was at 50% of his field goals assisted, but his efficiency was garbage. I like Gordon, but he's a role player and Amen is clearly on a whole other level.

Comparing KD and Amen scoring efficiency is criminal. Totally different scoring profiles and roles.

...not dumb - that's the concern everyone had. I don't even think Houston's front office necessarily were sure he was going to turn into THIS - virtually no one was talking about his defense before - just that he a chance to be impactful because of his athleticism and now here he is arguably the best wing defender in the entire league in year two....but I think given the options on the table, Amen had a MUCH higher ceiling than anyone else available at that time and Houston was actively hedging bets on upside knowing Jalen/Alpi's futures were still murky at that point.

Fast forward a year later, I think Houston felt a bit better about Sengun's long term projection and took Reed who I think was more a "fit" pick than an upside one(which would have been Castle). Stone's strength so far has been managing risk/reward more so than talent identification. Even for the guys who didn't make it like Garuba - at the time he was considered one of the top 3 defenders in that draft. Stone took a risk - it didn't work out but guess who was rated as the best offensive player in that same draft? Sengun - and you see how that worked out.

This is my "I was wrong tour" thanks to the evolution of this team. Another topic where Im happy I was wrong. Amen is the real deal. Game changing to have him this season.

He’s already improved from “terrible” to “pretty bad.” Gives one hope.

I think Amen is more talented than anyone on our roster. In terms of upside:

    1. Amen
    2. Alperen/JG

I’m not breaking up this big 3 for anything.

I've always thought Amen was more of a project when the Rockets drafted him. That he's somehow already doing this in his second year with his shot still TBD is absolutely insane.
