Alpi, Amen, and Green are the core of the core of the core

Efficiency isnt a hallmark of being untouchable or not, for example Sabonis has been record breaking efficiency wise but nobody really pays attention to him. Paolo Banchero has been relatively inefficient but Magic value him more than Wagner.

Sengun and Amen are untouchable in trades so they are the core. Jalen might get shipped out for Booker/Butler/Lavine/X perimeter superstar so he isnt part of the core yet. Once Jalen is deemed untouchable like Sengun and Amen then he is part of the core as well.

Amen wont ever be in a Green type role his role is different. Plus he is 2 yrs younger than Jalen and already much better than 21 yr old Jalen.

Efficiency is exactly what the problem was with Green. If he is a more efficient scorer than Alpi, then one of his most glaring flaws relative to Alpi is reverse uno carded.

No one would be questioning Green's place if for the past couple of seasons not only did he score more than Alpi but did it more efficiently.

Jalen is 355 days older than Amen. Carry on.

I don’t think average captures who he really is. He can shoot 60% for 10 games, looking unguardable, and then slump to 20% for the next stretch, unable to hit a wide-open 2. I’ve never seen a player be so inconsistent with such dramatic swings. It’s hard to compare him to anyone else because of this. So no, I’m not comparing his inconsistency to Sengun, Thompson, or even other 2s; I’m comparing how inconsistent he is with himself.

Never being in Green's role pits a hard limit to Amen's ceiling. Green's role is on ball creation. You aren't going to be a superstar without it.

Will you please let us know when they consider him untouchable, using the same inside sources that are telling you he might get shipped out?

How often have you followed a NBA team with a developing 19-22 year old on ball creating guard burdened with high usage and attacking against POA defenses routinely? Mm
If you are a die hard rocket fan and don't follow other teams as closely as the Rockets then probably never. I know this is my first experience following a player like this as a Rocket fan who started being a fan during the Francis era.

An athletic, paced, lob-threat shooter signing along with a trade for a star player would make Rockets instant contenders next season.

    Backcourt:
JG - superstar material - indispensable - must keep
CW - star potential, scoring machine - crucial - must keep
RS - has potential, have 3 years to prove himself - victory cigar - should keep
Traded star - DBooker? Trae? or ? - key to next level - should get

    Frontcourt:
AT - superstar potential - indispensable - must keep
JS - has potential, still young - vital - should keep
TE - rotation player - defensive key - should keep
Traded/Signed rotation player - MilesTurner? or ? - key for team's tempo - should get
DB - rotation player - defensive key - may be tradable

I know I will get ton of bashings, yet I should be objective. AS is a very special player, may fit into some team's system and have a great career, but not with this group of teammates and system. He regressed after signing the contract, and he is basically slow. His slow old school play might be needed in many teams, but I enjoy Houston the most when they run and gun. That said; if

AS - FVV - DB - fillers - FRPs etc.

can get us the star to move on to championship calibre, plus a MT type player, I would say go for it, one during off season, one maybe this trade deadline. There will be many good opportunities to upgrade.

Defense wins championships ever heard of that statement? Shaq is the MDP and all he did is dunk. Its not about what you can do its how well you can do it.

If Rox considered him a core piece why did he only get a 3 yr contract? Why dont you answer that first before you get all snarky with me?

No one has said this isn't a evaluation year for Green.

I'm saying halfway through the season. Green has closed the gap with Sengun and if the current trajectories of the season play out I would say they are in the same level of "core players"

We arent the Rockets and we dont decide who is the core and who isnt the core. In all trade rumors Rox have said Sengun and Amen are untouchable havent read the same thing about Green.

He is still in evaluation mode I would guess until the end of the season then Stone would decide so right now he still isn't.

Meh. By extending Green, they essentially made him untradeable at the deadline. That speaks more powerfully than words.

Ya Green has been in more trade rumors before the season started but I think those have entirely shut down. Obviously it has a lot do with Green's contract is nearly untradeable this season but also media seems to be accepting more and more that Green is part of the long term core because of his improvements and the fact the team is the second seed in the West.

I agree but we still cant deny there is a chance Jalen gets traded for Booker unlike Sengun and Amen where there is 0 chance they will be traded. Like I said we will see in the summer. I am guessing even Stone doesnt know at this point he is still evaluating.

Booker is doing what Jalen is doing if Stone pursues him he doesnt believe in Jalen enough IMo. Like I said I am a Jalen fan and I prefer him over Booker cuz he is younger, cheaper, and he can be an elite defender unlike Booker who tries hard but isnt a good defender. However Booker is immediately good right now so we need to see if Rox have patience to wait for Jalen or not.

This is just not a smart idea.
Alp is the franchise, along with Amen and Green.
You may have a type of team you want to see, but that’s not what matters.
Myles Turner? Are you serious? The dude is a terrible rebounder and defender outside of shot blocking

I haven't seen a player like him. I mean, there are a few who have extreme variance, but they aren't really similar in many other ways, and I sure hope he doesn't turn out to be like them.

(I used to be a die-hard Denver fan way back in the day. I don’t watch as many games like I used to - things change when you have a family. :))
