IHOP breakfast food unmatched. Dennys is decently priced for decent food. Wafflehouse gives me great memories as a first time out of the house college student. All have their niche in American society.
I haven't been to IHOP or Denny's in years. Don't really go to waffle house much, but have eaten there more recently. The last time I was in an IHOP was maybe 10-15 years ago when I was doing Uber Eats and I saw a huge roach come out of the kitchen and I have just never wanted IHOP since. I know it doesn't make sense to hold that against every IHOP especially since most of these fast food chains probably have slime in the Ice machine...But it's just been a mental image I can't get over...
iHop Waffle House is decent - actually good Grits . .Dennys comes in last Mainly I go to Franks Rocket River
I'm too cheap for any of 'em. Eggs and pancakes are way too overpriced at all three places. It's not rocket science to cook 'em at home, and it's a fraction of the cost. I cook a big breakfast almost every weekend that'll top, anything you'll get at those places.
They're all terrible: 25 years ago, buddy and I went to Meacom's Pier, around High Island near the Bolivar Cut. Got there around dark, fished until about 5am, caught some fun fish (black drum, sheepshead, etc...) and then I caught the biggest bull red I've caught in my life (I let him help me reel for a minute, it was wearing my arms out). Let all the fish go, great time, all that. We hit I-10 heading back to Houston and there was this glorious yellow light...Waffle House. Sit at the bar, look at menu, she asks what we want, he says "bacon, egg over medium, cheese" on toast. I say "that's exactly what I was looking at but without the mayo". I've only been to WH 2 or 3 times but that was my favorite meal there. ... For you Houstonians, I have a great after-Astros House of Pies story
I personally enjoy the simplicity of Waffle House's menu. Plus, it also brings back great memories when my mom was living in Atlanta and I would go visit her and we would do a 4 am run to Waffle House.
My mom worked late shifts and that was the time she was getting off work. I wasn't raised by my mom so we would just enjoy spending a few days together when we could thus 4 am runs to Waffle House.
