H.R.238 - To amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to clarify that artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies can qualify as a practitioner eligible to prescribe drugs if authorized by the State involved and approved, cleared, or authorized by the Food and Drug Administration, and for other purposes.

If it can pass step or boards why not, and pretty sure it will out score most med students.

Anybody in the medical setting knows that for most consequential things AI may as well be useless. Regurgitating guidelines? Sure but someone can google that on their own (that’s essentially what AI tries to do)

they’ve been singing deep learning being the death of rads for over a decade. Still hasn’t even taken a peek to make a mark

There's a role for AI in medicine. Doctors are so overwhelmed and overburdened they do need help as the amount of medical information has grown beyond many providers to accurately know all the info and make the best decisions.

However...AI should not replace a doctor. There are far too many considerations in making medical decisions that are beyond a machine's capability. Not that doctors have always lived up to that side of treatment decisions, but AI would not be an improvement.

Eliminating healthcare bureaucracy, waste and bloat would be a nicer promise than replacing doctors.

Maybe spending time to build accountability mechanisms backed by ai, big data and deep learning.

But that's not where the drop panties money is jumping for...
