Sign Dahlman, draft a LG high in the draft and let Scruggs, Patterson fight it out for the RG spot. Really what needs to happen is they need to hire Munchak and give him the guys he wants so he can build a proper OL.
That's why you hire him as soon as the season is over, so he can go to the Sr. Bowl/Combine etc... so he can pick out his guys.
Get Munchack or Dennison or Benton to coach OL // I am leery of Popovich Always get athletic freaks / marvels on the OL (1) Designated as a post 6/1 trade = Kenyon Green + 2026 3rd + conditional 2027 pick (starts at 6th & can move up to 4th depending on snaps) to Cleveland for Joel Bitonio + 2026 4th Bitonio was talking about retiring, but was really good in 2023. Scared of another Mason situation, but low risk - high reward. Texans lose about $3M in cap space net. (+$3M Green - $6M Bitonio). Saves Browns almost $8.4M in cap space + they get to see of Green can flourish in new pastures. (2) Restructure Tunsil = +$10M in cap space (3) Restructure Howard = +$10.7M in cap space (4) Designate Shaq Mason as post 6/1 cut (if new OL coach doesn't think he can be his old self) = +9.4M (use this $$$ to sign draft picks + Bitonio) (5) Sign C/G Drew Dalman (ATL) to 4 years, $53M contract ($34M GTD) ($10M, $12.5M, $14M, $16.5M) (6) Sign T/G/C Brady Christensen (CAR) to 4 years, $18M ($10.5M GTD) ($3.5M, $4.25M, $4.75M, $5.5M) (7) Sign G/T Dillon Radunz (TN) to 3 year, $12M ($7M GTD) ($3M, $4M, $5M) (8) Re-sign G KENDRICK Green to 2 year, $3.5M ($1M GTD) ($1.5M, $1.5M) LT - Tunsil, Christensen LG - Bitonio, KenDRICK Green C - Dalman, Patterson RG - Scruggs, Radunz RT - Howard, Fisher Strong Oline with ready replacements if someone goes down for a little bit. Backups are versatile enough to play multiple positions (esp. Christensen & Radunz).
Good scouting to find diamonds in the rough since they're always in the playoffs or championship games. I don't know what the **** we're doing....
It’s not diamonds in the rough. They just take BPA and don’t try and get cute. When Nick **** the bed with the Green pick, the Ravens selected an all pro safety right after. Later that round they select their starting center. Either would have been a great pick over Green.
Def wanted him when we got Cap & Strausser was our OL coach. Now, would depend on: (1) his health & (2) contract desired
We got enough young players on the OL IMHO.... need a quality vet. I expect the new OC & OL coach to have some connections. But I only really know about draft prospects after the combine / pro days on OL (need that short shuttle score). I really like a motivated Bitonio as an addition to our OL. Plus Browns need the cap space (cuz of BumRubTugger)
Unfortunately I don't believe our young, interior, linemen are anything above mediocre at best. Scruggs was a poor choice with a 2nd round pick. I think we can use our first to take Donovan Jackson out of Ohio State, who just DOMINATED the playoff, and plug him in at left guard. I think he'll be one of the better guards in the league for a decade. Coincidentally, he's also from the Houston area.
