If Trump wants to crush the EU, it makes sense for them to work against his re-election.

You might want to look into nations reducing their Russian oil at the expense of their own economy and rising fuel prices since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This is in addition to them footing the bill and using their own resources on helping with refugees from the war.
