That suggests they have something lined up with the extra payroll flexibility. Likely Bregman but getting a prospect could help if they pursue an Arenado trade again or other trades to upgrade the outfield if Bregman doesn’t return.

 

Perhaps that was the condition of getting the prospect (although I expect it to be more of a project one). Also, the Bregs thing most likely changed the mindset as they realize it's worth it.

Funnily enough, the money they could've given to Bregs to sweeten the deal most likely went to the Cubs to pay down Pressly's salary a bit.

Schwab is such a drama queen. He knows the Astros likely plan to upgrade elsewhere after moving most of Pressly’s salary.

 

Hader is a good dude but our bullpen will be just fine.
