Even if they'd make it, I didn't like the call

Agree. It’s such an unnecessary risk.

Also, they went for it 2 or 3 times on the first drive...then decided to not go for it on 4th anymore

    Play to win, or don't

The Eagles should just run QB sneak every time they get in within 5-6 yards of the endzone in 1st and goal situations. It’s unstoppable.

Disappointing that the refs decided to make sure philly would win, always rather see a team have to earn a win but washington isn't playing well.

They fumbled and bumbled thru the first half. And "wonder boy" McDaniels didn't look particularly great.

Because they are ultra-confident in their offenses and think they have a better than 50% chance to get it. a 65% chance to get 2 pts vs 95% chance to get 1 pt favors going for 2.

But really, if they follow that philosophy, they should do it every time instead of just when chasing.

Washington scored on every possession that someone didn't fumble on (and none of those fumbles were Daniels). He seemed pretty good to me against the #1 defense while having no running game at all helping him out.

Maybe over the course of an entire season, but in an individual win or go home game that logic is completely ludicrous. Even for good offenses, 65% is probably on the high side.

Also, that has nothing to do with why they’re getting smoked rn, but still.

That's the "scared" logic though. If the goal is to score points, but you're not willing to do it when the game actually matters, it's just playing scared and being afraid of being second guessed. If it's good for you all season, it's good for you in a specific game, whether it works or not. For every failed 2 pt conversion, there's another where a successful one helps the team in the end. And if you succeed more than you don't, going for it is going to result in a win more than it results in a loss (most times, it'll be irrelevant and/or average out).

Detroit dealt with this the last two years with going for it on 4th downs. Everyone praised them all during 2023 for being bold, etc. And then criticized them in the playoff game they lost for doing what they did all season. This year, everyone praised it again when it was working. Playing differently "when it matters" is why everyone hates the prevent defense nonsense too.

We also saw this same effect in the infamous Bill Belichick 4th down playoff call vs Peyton Manning. It was the right decision, but also the one that would be second-guessed more.

The difference is the first few were the difference between 0 pts and possibly 3-7 pts (and a wasteful punt around midfield). The latter is the difference between 3 easy pts and possibly 7.

Washington has played a nearly perfect game on offense in terms of decision making. Their problems have been turnovers and an inability to stop Philly's offense.
