We’re going to win. We’re going to keep on winning. We’re going to win so much you’re gonna get tired of winning.
Even with a crummy outfield and a shallow pitching staff, the roster is very likely better than the last 2 seasons (2023-2024). This roster is very unlikely to be on par with 2017-2019 or 2021-2022, and will be more like 2015-2016. But those were good, contending teams. Bringing back Bregman or making another significant move would be great. But even if this is the roster they roll out in April, it should be another fun, successful year.
Garcia had another injury at the end of the year and that set him back. He should be ready by the end of April…as for McCullers, he retired a handful of years ago and the Astros are humoring him at this point IMO. If by some miracle he bounces back- it will be just that, a miracle.
I was one of McCullers’ biggest defenders/optimists but I stand by what I said last month: if he doesn’t pitch in the majors by April 30th, his career is over. You don’t take 2 full years off rehabbing then suffer another significant setback and come back. Hes either throwing off the mound at full velo by the time spring training is over, or he’s done.
A few weeks ago while I was in Vegas I tried to get 2 different casino sports books to give me a futures bet on Dezenzo to win ROY. They wouldn’t do it; I even offered a 5 figure bet if they’d give me 50:1 or better. They said they didn’t have anyone who could estimate the odds./csb
Gotta figure we’ll get a final answer on the Pressly trade in the next 4 to 28 hours. Cant imagine they’d give him more than the weekend to think about it.
Crane does not seem like an owner who is going to dump Pressley solely for salary reasons. These has to be another related move.
"Tuve doubles down on doing whatever..." Translation: Slow baseball news day Come on, Chron! Come on, man! Get us some real news, mf-ers!
I don't put a lot of stock in what Dana Brown says in regards to Bregman. And I don't mean that as disrespect. He cant come out and say yeah we are close, we just have to get rid of Pressly to make the money work first (not that I have any info that this is true either, just using it as an example). Saying we've had good talks but it is a long shot doesn't mean anything. If they don't sign him then as far as the public knows is it was a long shot. If they do sign him, they just come back and say an opportunity presented itself to bring him back and we jumped on it. At the end of the day we don't really know anymore now than we did Friday. Bregman is unsigned, he still has an offer from the Astros on the table, he may or may not have other short or long term offers from other teams. I do think if the Astros still have the best offer on the table for him, this may come to a conclusion soon™.
