McCarthy with the Cowboys 2020: 24.7 ppg 17th (Andy dalton) 2021: 31.2 ppg 1st 2022: 27.5 ppg 4th 2023: 29.9 ppg 1st 2024: 20.6 ppg 21st (Cooper Rush) Slowik with the Texans 2023: 22.2 ppg 13th 2024: 21.9 ppg 19th
Bobby Slowik and Chris Strausser aren't the only coaches not returning to the Houston Texans next season. The Texans do not plan to renew contracts for offensive assistants Jarrod James and Leander Wallace and defensive assistant Ryan Milus, a league source told the Chronicle on Saturday. Their contracts have all expired. Wallace spent four seasons with the Texans in various roles, initially in the football operations department before becoming a coach, while James was with the team for three seasons before coming over from Michigan State as the assistant offensive line coach. Wallace and James' time with the Texans predated DeMeco Ryans, who arrived in 2023 as the head coach and kept both on staff. Milus had been there for two seasons. Their responsibilities varied, but as quality control coaches, they were primarily responsible for gathering and cutting up film and other tasks.
Wow didn’t realize those numbers. I don’t see him as someone that’ll be a OC but that would be great to have those numbers. Nico putting up CeeDee numbers.
I like Chip but I'm becoming a Big Mike guy. Multiple 1,000 yard rushers, multiple 1,000 yard receivers, multiple qbs top 10 in stats including 2 mvp seasons for Aaron Rodgers, and a Superbowl trophy. Compared to Chip, Mike's nfl accomplishments make him imo a logical choice
Kubiak may very well be a great OC and beyond one day. I don’t want to maybe find out though. I want a plug and play OC who fires up his team like DeMeco fires up and leads the defense and team. As of now I want Chip Kelly. He’s proven, has a relationship with DeMeco. The details will be handled. This team is ready to win right now. Don’t F around with it thinking about timelines. Things go south in a hurry so the time is now.
The problem with this take is that an offense should be able to adapt to personnel. Not just squeezing square pegs into round holes. Good offensive minds adjust to various personnel changes. Anyone can just blindly run a west coast/shanahan scheme.
There is no time to find out if a new up and coming OC will figure it out. The Texans have all the pieces to win now and cannot waste another year like they have previously while CJ is still on a rookie contract. Gone are the days of "well there's always next year." I'm Glad Demeco decided to move on from Slowik. Get an experienced OC and let it rip - the Texans have all the offensive weapons to make it happen.
I don't get why so many Texans fans (and John McClain) are so hung up on the Kubiak family. Let it go. How about some innovation? How about a coach who didn't get their job because of their Dad? How about an offense that scores touchdowns?
100% agree. It's so frustrating watching other teams get wide open receivers, tight ends, and running backs on every play and the Texans can't get anyone open. And I know the Texans receivers are more than capable. Red zone touchdowns should be the number one priority. No more settling for stinkin field goals. Oh and let's add in game adjustments to the mix because Slowik showed he was incapable of doing such.
Yeah... Kyle is doing terribly over there in San Fran.... With that being said, I want no part of Klint here.
