My guess is... Astros have a tentative figure agreed upon to bring Bregman back, but that's contingent that Pressly is traded. Astros told Pressly that the Cubs need a closer. Why stay in Houston for just 1 more year (Because we ain't resigning you) when you can go to the Cubs, be their closer and increase your value for next season. Pressly is mulling it over, dragging his feet a bit to see if he can get anything else out of this deal. Meanwhile, the Astros and Cubs have a framework already in place of money and prospects.

Yeah, I think they have to be pretty confident Bregman returns to be making this deal. Otherwise they are just creating another hole…with Santander and Profar off the market doesn’t really make sense to do that for anyone else.
Going to miss Pressly. One of the better post season pitchers I've seen for Houston. We will always have 2022.
Assuming if the deal goes through the plan on using Abreu in the 8th or maybe 7th depending on who in the lineup is coming up. I wonder what next guy they plan on emerging in that next spot, Tayler Scott had a good year and sort Kaleb Ort has nasty stuff. Maybe Whitley emerges from the shadows, likely it will be a downgrade
