Josh McCown would be an interesting hire.

Yeah Kubiak was a bit of an offensive genius, especially when it came to running the ball.

I feel like Slowik was a just a cheap imitation of the same thing, I can't even imagine what Kubiak would do with a guy like Mixon at RB, Kubiak was having random UFAs become all-star running backs.

Honestly I want to get away from the West coast offense, it's just too dependent on having certain players and playing a certain style of game. I'd love to get someone from Reid's coaching tree, David Giradi has been the QB coach for KC since Mahomes arrived there, and might be an OC soon so maybe we can jump on that. Might also help with beating these guys too since there will be little intel they can pick up from them.

But my top pick would be Kelly, a veteran that is going to come in and already know what to do.

So that leaves a Kubiak kid and Wes Phillips, who a compadre on this board gave us a heads up on without saying his name.

*if we're staying with the ZBS

It's pretty clear that offense is not DeMeco's forte and he needs someone with a lot more experience on that side of the ball.

Nick Caley would make sense as well, given the Patriots/Caserio/John Carroll connection.

I think it'll be Jerrod Johnson, Klint, McCown, or Caley.

I also think I'm wrong most of the time.

Do NOT want another inexperienced, first-year OC. If they want to bring him in as a QBC or passing game coordinator, OK.

But I want the OC and OLC to have SKINS on the wall: seasoned, experienced coaches with a long track record of success.

I am just so happy; I was afraid Demeco wouldn't do it but after the presser when he didn't really back Bobby, I had hope. Good for the Texans, good for the fans and more importantly good for CJ

I agree with you. I think that's what Demeco needs at this point in his career. 5 years from now, maybe not?

Just saying that the dynamic with McCown and CJ at the draft meetings, McCown being fairly local, and McCown having interviewed for the head coaching job, would make for an interesting hire.

I was really surprised when I heard this. Very un-Texan like. Then I remembered that this is a new regime.

I’ll be bitterly disappointed if it’s McCown. Maybe he’s the next big thing - but he’s coached a year (?) at the NFL level? And I don’t believe he coached at all before that? Yeah, I would not be the least bit interested in him, personally.

I respect where you’re coming from - not trying to dump all over it. I just don’t want another “project” You’ve got two years of “cheap” CJ left - they need an OC who can step in today & match wits with the Spanolos of the world.

Bobby also lacked feel for play-calling in-game, too.

To be fair, Caserio is on his third head coach since 2021…..

This feels like a slam dunk…. And please bring Stoutland with you, Chip!

Holy ****, what a get that would to bring those two in. And, not for nothing: it’d make your QB pretty damn happy, too, I’m guessing.

Maybe wishful thinking, but one could conclude that they already have their guy - maybe Chip Kelly - lined up, and that's why the Slowik firing didn't happen until nearly a week after the season ended.
