Shams: Jimmy Butler open to being traded to Rockets Mavericks or Warriors

Same problems as Suns. Too much overlap. Lillard and Beal functioned most of their career as combo guards that mostly stayed on the perimeter. Jrue worked better for them because he was a traditional PG that learned how to play D while he was there and would kick to shooters and Giannis would go ham inside.

TL/DR: Miami wants to keep cap room for 26 - 27 FA class (esp. Luka). Doesn't want picks necessarily. Jimmy was never going to get an extension.

The more I think about it (that's the first problem)....

(1) 3-team trade: HOU - MIA - TOR (all teams stay / get under tax)
TOR: Brooks (HOU) + Tate (HOU) + $$$ from HOU & MIA
6 God home. Tate bought out to find team that can use him or stays to help Raps make a push in the East.

MIA: Brown (TOR) + Adams (HOU) + worst of 2029 FRP picks (DAL, HOU, PHX)
Miami gets under tax and loses Himmy's attitude. Adams could be a contributor off the bench. Brown could give them minutes in backcourt. Miami stays flexible for 2026 - 2027.

HOU: Himmy (MIA) + Love (MIA)
Rox get to playoff-hardened (Love got a ring) vets for a playoff push. Himmy & Love don't have to play heavy minutes in regular season (a la Uncle Jeff) and just stay ready for playoffs. Love can stroke the 3 (giggity) & brings energy on D (giggity 2X).
Moreover Htown blocks PHX move to protect that PHX 2025 FRP pick value.

In 2025 off-season (after draft ), 3 team trade with HOU - PHX - BRK (maybe CHA or SA or DET)
PHX: Himmy (HOU) - Jimmy gets his $$$
BRK: Beal (PHX) + assets from PHX (2 picks) BRK gonna have cap space & no one to really spend it on.
HOU: asset from PHX (1 pick) Htown not tied down by Jimmy's contract demands + picks up asset for a playoff rental

(2) HOU - POR (totally unnecessary, but might be fun.... BUT would put Rox over the tax line)
POR: Landale (HOU) + SRP via HOU
Blazers get movable contract + SRP for player not really in their plans. Plus save some $$$.

HOU: Time Lord (POR)
Ime gets one of his favs back who can platoon with Love & Bari for minutes at the 5.

(3) ROX still have open slots for players bought out by their teams in time for the playoffs (Lonzo Ball, Malcom Brogdon, etc.)

Imagine for 2025 playoff run....

FVV - Brogdon - Holiday
JG - Amen - Shep
Himmy - Cam - Craig (or another shooter bought out by their team)
Bari - Tari - Uncle Jeff
Sengawd - Time Lord - Love

Half Court: FVV - Brogdon / Shep - Himmy - Love / Time Lord - Sengawd

Run & Fun: Amen - JG - Cam - Tari - Bari

 

Like the trade just think we can get it done for 3 2s. We don't have the roster spots or minutes right now for more than our 1s. Reed a #3 pick and proposed star cannot even get minutes. Lets make those 2s work for us as they are better than a low 1 to Miami. We keep our 1s for ammunition later.
