Metropolitan (1989) is one of my favorite films and no one I know has seen it and the few I've shown it to don't get why I like it.

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) is more popular, in general, but I don't know anyone that likes it. I have probably seen it like 20 times.

“On Golden Pond” will always have a special place in my heart. It reminds me that my Mom also had a difficult relationship with her father. And, they had a moment late in his life I witnessed where he realized he may not see her again and he was filled with regret from what I saw. I used to light his pipe as he sat on his porch and smoked. The themes of that film regarding aging and relationships just really resonated with me and it was made all the more real because of Jane Fonda’s difficult relationship with her own father laid bare on screen for everyone to see in their interactions. Also, my Dad and I used to go fishing and we bonded via fishing on several occasions. It was something we liked to do.

I actually think it’s Kubricks best movie. It misses for most people but to me it’s the most layered and most personal. I like just the mood and dream like state it has to it.

Ad Astra is my pick. This is one of the most slept on films of the past 10 years. Fantastic visuals, and incredibly deep in its message. Kind of Apocalypse Now but in space.

Neptune is kind of a slept on planet too. So much focus on the other guys. Nobody seems to care about ole Nep.
