Don't give up Cam or any other of our young players for Stewart. Give the Pistons a low first round pick and two 2nd round picks plus expirings. I'm inclined to retain Tate right now. Landale and Uncle Jeff's contracts can be helpful. I hate the idea of not having Uncle Jeff on the Rockets though.
Yeah but Stewart is just 23 and is very valuable already. Much rarer archetype (rim protector who can shoot). Would be fair for them to ask because Cam is amazing too. I think we can get it done without Cam.
I know that's not much for Stewart, but our biggest problem is shooting the ball. Cam is working a bit harder on defense too.
I still love the idea of trading for Cam Johnson. He would make a big difference, but we wouldn't have to trade away all our draft assets to land him. Smith and Johnson would be perfect complements to Amen, Sengun, and Green. Something like: Brooks, a FRP, and the Nets' 27 swap for Cam Johnson. I don't think it would be hard for the Nets to reroute Brooks for an expiring contract and another FRP. This upcoming offseason, let FVV walk and take some initial lumps as Amen works towards becoming our PG. It'll be worth it in the end. Also extend Eason, Smith, and Adams if possible. We should have plenty of financial flexibility to extend Amen the following offseason. 9 man rotation of: Amen / Green / Johnson / Smith / Sengun Sheppard / Whitmore / Eason / Adams
Toronto had Siakim and OG Anunoby when they decided to let FVV walk so they could get Barnes more on ball touches. Barnes's development has plateau'd. Sure his assists have gone way up, but hard to improve decision making without players around you that know what they are doing. Alternatively in Houston, young guys are developing faster than probably any other team in the league. The solution is not to get rid of FVV.
I'm on board with experimenting with Amen as the PG ..... but lets be realistic, he hasn't logged a single minute at the point this season (according to the stats at both NBA.com & BBR). I'd like to see the experiment start now, not later and I want a plan B in FA just in case, maybe a combo guard for the MLE who if Amen works out can be traded or come off the bench at either guard spot. With a team as competitive as this one, you can't go into next season without some insurance ....
Brandon Miller out for the season with wrist surgery. The poor franchise just cannot catch a break. I don't think I really want LaMelo due to his injury history, but you have to wonder what kind of conversations he's having with that front office behind the scenes.
I wouldn't mind us having a conversation with the Pelicans for Brandon Ingram...he's another playmaker that we could use in the 4th quarter, especially in the playoffs...here's a good trade scenario: Brooks/Landale/Tate/Holiday/2025 Suns pick We receive: Ingram/Alvarado/salary fillers
He was anything but a playmaker in the playoff series against OKc. That’s when the trade rumors started lol
PHX in: Butler UTA in: Ben Simmons+ D. Melton + 2025 and 2027 FRP from Suns BKN in: Beal MIA in: FVV HOU in: Sexton+Collins + 2029 FRP from Suns Phoenix gets Butler Utah gets $50M+ in expiring salary and two FRP (recycled from their previous trade. They get to keep dealing using the same picks over and over again ) BKN gets Beal and keep Cam and Claxton in their reluctance to completely tear it down. Still will have $50M+ in cap room and plenty of assets. Beal may waive NT for New York. MIA gets a player that can still help them win this year and next without adding additional salary in 2026. HOU gets more depth and some more consistent shooting and scoring along with a future FRP. No additional salary than FVV long term and grab an extra pick. I like getting several years younger and spreading the salary among two players rather than one, but it’s hard to argue with where we are with FVV and it might be best not to rock the boat. *This trade would also work without the Rockets involvement and UTA assets going to MIA.
I don't think Melton can be aggregated into a trade (just traded by himself) Also, I thought we already had 2029 PHX FRP (higher of DAL, HOU, PHX)
The trade machine allowed it. Maybe other filler. The pick is actually likely the one from Cleveland that they just got from Utah.
I was going to suggest something similar. Would substitute Jock for Tate though and put protections on the FRP.
