We still own the 2029 PHX pick. Even if they win 3 rings Butler and KD gonna be washed by 2029.

Don't think the Heat aren't happy to accommodate him.
They just didn't want his trade value torpedoed anymore.

Yeah but Butler can pickup his 1 yr option and then be a free agent. I dont want us to lose assets for a rental

Yeah, but it's believable. You have two teams that have won it all with an MVP in the last 4 years (Den and Mil). Then you have a team that won it all 5 years ago, and then you have Miami. "I don't want to live in Miami or LA"....said no 9-figure athlete ever.

Man those picks are looking good! Even if they trade for Butler they are going to weaken their team.

If any of their 3 stars get hurt it’s game over.

This team has been awesome this year but we still need a closer. Jimmy buckets is one of the best in the business and fits the hard-nosed, gritty culture that Ime has installed (when he is not going off the deep end).

Jimmy is a difference maker with distressed value, on a team with a stubborn GM who is looking for any reason to not reward Jimmy's antics. We should not cash out our assets and go all in this year, but this drama gives us a chance to get a real difference maker on the cheap. If Butler would be good with a 2 year max extension (ends in 2027), the price is right (expirings, late first, first swap), and Ime feels like he can get Butler's buy in, that should be good enough for us. It does not hamstring us long-term and puts us right at that OKC tier this year - the west is wide open and a deep playoff run is the right proving ground for our young guys to show they are for real.

It also helps our Phoenix picks retain their value. With Jimmy, Phoenix will have a star that is willing to mix it up inside and provide toughness. That team has a chance to make some noise in the West. But as currently constructed, Phoenix is going nowhere fast and KD is a free agent after next year. You take Jimmy off the plate and what other avenues do they have to improve? They either stick with a disgruntled Beal or make a panic move for another bloated contract.

One more year with an early playoff exit and Durant/Booker start eyeing the door, and we will have those Phoenix picks to cash in. A move for Butler helps us compete now AND still keeps our dreams of raiding the Phoenix Suns' treasure chest alive.

Make it 3 2s instead. It will still outbid whatever PHX can give Heat with late 1st.

Yimmy can be had for 2s. It still outbids 1 late first from PHX.

That 2029 pick to me outside of getting this 2025 swap is the untouchable pick. I think still by 2027 they could be 15-20 pick.

That's not how the conversation would work. No to the Suns pick. 3 2s will outbid whatever late 1st PHX could offer. Jimmy is not worth assets. We don't have the roster spots or minutes for our 2s. They need to serve our long-term vison. The way the deal with Butler would work is that the trade deadline is dead and he wants to pick up his $52M option. Its his last guaranteed payday before 37 and then he is an over-38 player. He needs to be successful because at 36 he is auditioning. He and Pat Riley hate each other with a time limit, and he is forcing that issue now. He knows he cannot win in Miami or get paid long term. Yimmy is selfish but not stupid. He wants to be seen as a superstar. Going to Suns accomplishes that and gets his bag that he can get nowhere else. He thinks they could win there. Riley is not going to want to help Yimmy if he has any other option.

When option 1 is dead, Houston becomes attractive when he gets his bag next year and can win and can audition. Houston leaving him on read makes him accountable because no one has $50M+ cap room out there that he wants. Houston would have all of the leverage. They could trade him by deadline next year to recoup assets or sign him to cheaper extension (think 3/20M per) with Bird Rights in offseason or S&T. He has to perform or he doesn't get paid. Its really a maximizing asset play with getting the best out of a former superstar level player.

I think it could expose the Suns desperation on Durant. I think there is a time limit on Durant and this Butler pursuit has been led by him. He's not stupid and knows they cannot win. I have seen his yelling and frustration before. He is very passive aggressive and does things in the background. When he is this open its Defcon 1.

If the deal doesn't happen, the Nets picks in 25 and 26 around the 8th pick that the Rockets would have ended up with.
The picks received are likely 13th, 8th, 8th, 20th. More importantly, the 27 and 29 Suns picks makes the Rockets the likely team the Suns deal with if they trade Booker. I'd guess the 25 Suns pick gets traded into the future. Come the 2027 draft, the Rockets will have 10-11 FRPs provided they don't make a big trade before then and likely a very deep team.

    What is chicago doing?

Windhorst on the Bulls: “They are absolutely involved in conversations with the Suns involving a possible Jimmy Butler [trade] … The Bulls and the Suns have talked about the concept of Bradley Beal ending up in Chicago.”
