Idk. I'm not saying Musk is a Nazi. He is a problematic figure all on his own and doesn't need to be associated with other villains. But if that isn't a seig heil, then what was he thinking when he threw that out there? Is he so dense that he didn't realize how people would see it? And, second, once the criticism was made, he doesnt reassure everyone that it wasn't a salute and denounce Nazism or anything like that. He goes with the Trumpian playbook of trying to gaslight everyone into conceding that did lnt see what they saw. And its working great, with Trumpers running around doing overtime explaining how Musk isn't a white supremacist. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on the Nazi salute. But (a) his damage control is awful and (b) his unofficial position as the #2 guy in the White House is awful and (c) his political and policy ideas are awful and (d) his cybertruck is awful.
It really is a "the lady doth protest too much" situation. I have little reason to think any of these public figures have ever knowingly done this (it's such a high risk-low reward thing to do, even as a troll/joke). But the amount of backflips people are doing trying to gaslight everyone about it makes me second guess that.
I'm not a big fan of the left's habit of bullying people into over apologizing (especially for ambiguity). He didn't need to come out and give some tearful apology, donate to the holocaust museum, and find a Nazi to punch in the face live on Spaces. I think coming out and saying "yeah that was awkward/cringe, my bad" would probably suffice for about 95%+ of people.
your "sense of humour" includes mocking people after they are almost murdered in their own home and accusing them of being gay. youre a bad person.
I didn't watch the inauguration and didn't watch any news that day. I came on to clutchfans that night and saw Elon's video in another thread. First time I saw it, and I responded sarcastically about him doing a Nazi salute. Whether it was intentional or not, I don't know, but it clearly looks like a neo-nazi salute. And given his history I still don't know - being autistic doesn't give you a pass for being an *******. The actual delusion people are the ones running cover posting single frames from other politicians and saying "Elon was throwing his heart". Really you are so terminally online and right wing that you are running cover for the richest man in the world. He's a terrible person. Let him twist in the wind for a few days. But you guys are literal serfs doing unpaid work to protect your lord. It would be funny, if it wasn't disgusting. The richest man in the world has an army of brainwashed sycophants running around the internet protecting him because they consume the disinformation that he feeds them 24/7.
I agree with that. I don't need him to prostrate himself before the political correctness gods. I would just want him to acknowledge that it would be totally reasonable for a casual viewer to see that as a nazi salute and fear that there might be elements of white supremacy influencing our president. If he is genuinely not a white supremacist (a big if), reassuring people that he isn't is a small ask. But, I acknowledge that placating me is of no benefit to Musk -- he knows he is not going to convert any hater anyway.
Not to mention that a huge majority of the videos or photos the Anti-Woke MAGA crowd post are intentional misrepresentations, misleading, dishonest, and used to divide people. Almost all of them. The people that consume all of that anti-Woke MAGA crap, spread it, and buy into it, are now doing the same with this, and it is wild to watch. I guess it proves what an effective propaganda tool that kind of stuff is.
Let's stop with the Elon isn't a Nazi because he supports Israel nonsense. Elon is a racist, authoritarian nationalist. He is not an anti-semite. He isn't a 1930's Nazi. He's a current day fascist. His out groups are trans people, Muslims and non-whites. Being a friend of Israel isn't a shield for all the other disgusting stuff he believes.
lol at the unhinged left-wing extremists in their little echo chamber here you might be in the majority here, but you are a tiny fringe minority of the world's population
Two very different things. Did it look weird? Yes. Was his intent to do a Nazi salute? No. Not anymore than the 100 other examples of AOC, Taylor Swift, etc. etc. moving their arms in similar ways.
It didn't look "weird" It looked like the Nazi salute I don't know his intent I think he's a bit of a troll and definitely could've been doing it to do it ..similar to a 14 year old idiot Kinda had a **** eating grin on his face IMO
Are they really going with "weird" as a defense? As if all of the aesthetics of Nazi Germany weren't weird, too.
Idk how anyone can be that dense and blind. The man literally did a left to right swing from chest level salute. Meanwhile, examples from others are still images of them raising their arms above head level. Even the superman article one is laughable. Is superman swinging his arm from left to right across his chest? I can't believe I'm living in this timeline.
It’s even more telling Musk hasn’t come out to do the gaslighting himself but is leaving that up to his minions and followers.
He's the smartest man in the world and I love X (it's all happening on X) and he's also too weird to not do one of history's most obvious signals! I love this man!!
