No idea if CJ is as big of a VR nerd as Jayden is. Just hoping he'd do more of it if he's lacking. Again, I think CJ played tremendously in the KC game, much better than most of the season.
Jerod Johnson needs to go too, it was a nice feel good story last year but CJ's regression this season was horrendous. Case is cool, he'll be quality control next season but they should get a veteran qb coach in there, no more first timers
I was really falling off on CJ. Yes the OLine, yes the playcalling, but he also looked really off compared to last year. He pumped me back up in the playoffs, I feel like in the past, the Texans all fizzle out in the playoffs, not this team, and not CJ. CJ's performance in the playoffs was like getting a birdie on 18 after shooting a 95... Enough to bring me back and keep me going.
It feels like this hasn't been brought up enough - setting aside obvious issues (OC, OL, etc.), I think people are forgetting.... Stroud won't turn 24 - Jayden Daniels' current age - until around week 5 of the '25 season. He was *21* when he made his NFL debut. He's nearly a year YOUNGER than Daniels. He's nearly two years younger than Bo Nix. He's not even a full year older than Drake Maye. Daniels threw nearly 700 more passes in college; Nix more than a 1,000. Both came into the NFL older and with more experience. All that to say... I wouldn't sleep on CJ Stroud in year 3.
He missed a ton of throws early in the season. Throws that he made look easy in his rookie season. That's where Jerrod Johnson comes in to play. Both those guys should've noticed at corrected his footwork. One thing Brady continued to do is work on his craft so the basic throws in game situations wouldn't hinder a drive.
It was somewhat the same for me. Early in the season, around weeks 3 to 5, I started feeling like something was off with CJ beyond the issues with the O-line and missing an RB. His footwork and decision-making didn’t look the same. I began wondering if his early success in the NFL might have gone to his head a little, maybe to the point where he didn’t prepare as thoroughly as he should have or thought it would be easy to replicate along with improvements. He’s made comments throughout the season that hinted at this, including his last press conference, which I found reassuring. I do think he’ll work on it, and year 3 should be exciting.
he could still be in attendance for events & functions (& recruiting)... just not play in the game. I think some injured players have done something similar before so not unheard of.
Good. Maybe he's just trying to avoid Micah Parsons. He was a bad influence on CJ, got him into podcasting and media and CJ got carried away.
Lol podcasts didn't turn the IOL into zombies forgetting how to block simple concepts they've been blocking since H.S Even in Japan, he was still getting workouts or in France with Diggs, their first throwing session. I hope the draft show with Parsons and Stroud has a part 2. Too good.
People making way too big a deal about his off season last year... Him doing podcasts and going on vacation didn't turn his offensive line into traffic cones, nor did it make the play calling predictable and unimaginative... Does he have work to do? Absolutely. Do I trust him to put in the time? Absolutely.
CJ did miss throws though. Throws he wouldn't have missed his rookie season and alot of it was due to bad footwork but I do agree. Maybe a little to do with his hand injury.
I think Lance might have thrown in some extra spice to heat up his story. It may have been technically true, but he either deliberately left out context, unintentionally omitted it, or simply didn’t have the full picture, details that would have made it seem completely normal and understandable.
