It is in the Rocket's best interest to make it difficult for Phoenix to complete a Butler trade. Offer more or serve as a third party to sweeten a deal for Miami. That's the best way to hurt Phoenix.

You should follow Morey on the Sixers he thinks exactly like you. Runs the team like he has ADHD cant sit still must go all in and make all the trades every year.

Thats why their team now is full of old guys, they about to give OKC their lotto pick and they are paying 3 max contracts while being a tanking team.

I think this trade hurts the Rockets in the sense of making any trade for Devin Booker. The Suns aren’t going to make this trade and seemingly eventually get Jimmy Butler just to turn around and trade Devin Booker to the Rockets. So for the next probably 2 years, that talk is dead.

2 yrs has always been their timeline as Ishbia said he is willing to be on the 2nd apron for 2 yrs.

PHX were never gonna trade Booker they'd rather trade KD first before Booker. The only way Booker is gonna get traded is if he himself demands a trade.

On the Rockets side they just signed JG to a 3 yr deal starting next year they'd want to see if he lives to his contract or not before they dump him and get a premier scorer back.

It's not that clever because they've already swapped all their swaps, multiple times over. So the only picks they can trade out are all "least favorable of Phoenix, and 2 or 3 other teams", with those other teams being young and very good (Cleveland, Minnesota, Orlando, Memphis).

They essentially traded their own 2031 unprotected first round pick (a good pick) for the opportunity to trade the equivalent of three top-25 protected first rounders.

It gives Phoenix more flexibility, but it's a decrease in overall value.

AND, going down the Jimmy Butler path guarantees Phoenix will continue to be in the second apron for multiple years, so their 2032 and eventually 2033 picks will be frozen at 30th in the draft and untradeable in the future.

I don't understand this trade at all. They're getting the worst picks out of Cleveland, Minnesota, or Utah, right? Well unless the Cavs unexpectedly collapse in the near future, that's the team whose picks they'll get and they'll likely fall between 26-30 in the first round. How does that help the Suns to either rebuild or put together a package for another star player?

Signals we should go for Fox now that Booker is off the table. Let someone else bet on the Suns picks. Fox Jalen Amen Jabari Sengun is an unguardable matchup nightmare starting lineup.

Suns send multiple 1st's to Miami for Butler.

The Utah 3 firsts help cancel the Stepien Rule (by-pass us in a way)

Hearing Beal heads to Bucks in the trade.....Raptors help offset trade

I agree that this doesn't help the Suns star chase.

But, they can probably turn those 3 late 1st rd picks into 2 or 3 decent rotation level players when packaged with some of their underperformers.

Their 2031 1st rd pick is higher quality but wouldn't help them if they want to fill multiple gaps.

EDIT: Someone was arguing with me in a thread a while back that there was no chance we could trade the Suns their 2025 pick swap back (in a theoretical Booker trade) because there was no way the Suns would get a 2025 pick. This trade makes that possible. I don't think it will happen this trade deadline because Stone wants to see what this team can do in the playoffs before tinkering. But, it is possible now.

Shrewd move to salvage this era of Booker, they clearly will worry about the future later. Definitely doesn't help the Rockets, but a Phoenix collapse is still on the table, especially if they get someone like Butler.

Wouldn’t mind seeing him trade Maxey to the Rockets. Those Phoenix picks would go a long way in restoring everything they’ve given up, and the rookie could take over there!

Good thing we don't need to trade for Booker anymore. Suns clearly don't care about their picks until 2032 so everything beforehand is gonna be a goldmine. Let's just say they give Butler his max extension in the off-season. I doubt KD, who loves asking out will stay in that shitshow the rest of his career. He'll ask out and Booker will soon follow unless he really doesn't care about wasting his prime to never win a ring.

Don't know where the picks end up by this works in NBA Trade Machine:

MIL: Beal (PHX) + Temple (TOR)

    PHX: Butler (MIA)

MIA: Lopez (MIL) + Brown (TOR)

TOR: Middleton (MIL) + Larsson (MIA)

could work.... do Heat, Bucks, & Raps each get 1 FRP?? will be interesting to watch

Booker isn’t going anywhere anytime soon if they get Butler. We need to get DeArron Fox and call it day.

I think they just trade 3 picks, Nurkic and fillers for the one or two best forwards they can find.

    Richards/Plumlee/Nurkic > good enough, C's

Durant/O'Neale >> here they need a ton of help if they wanna be contenders

    Booker/Beal/Tyus/Grayson > guards set

Interestingly, I bet they would kill to get Dillon Brooks for a first, a second and fillers. That’s a guaranteed starter for them and they would still have 2 picks to shop Beal.

    Lots of rumors.

Raptors making available Poeltl, Temple, Chris Boucher, Bruce Brown.

Bucks need to move Connaughton before Beal deal because they are
    a 2nd apron team.

I've seen Warriors (Poeltl/Temple) x Raptors (Kyle Anderson/Gary Payton) small move

They can try but eventually they are going to run out of ammunition ..... this last trade was one of pure desperation, three end of the round picks for a future unprotected pick when they are already over the 2nd apron and likely to be repeaters.

Still don't see how it helps them land Butler.

Who's taking on Beal's contract that's two years and $100.7m after this year (roughly half of the $50.2m), the last year a player option for $57.1m that I can't see him turning down .... for what appears to be three very late first round picks? (Worst of Cleveland / Minny - Worst of Cleveland / Minny - Worst of Cleveland - Minny - Utah).

Let's say they find a taker for Beal in exchange for those picks, what do they have left to compensate Miami in exchange for Butler?

The minimum a team would have to send out to absorb Beal is $40.16m ..... Assume it's Toronto, who are they sending to Miami as part of a 3 team trade that gives Miami enough value to send Butler to PHX with the 3 picks going to Toronto?

(If not Toronto, <insert team here>)

They can't even offer swaps before 2032.

Even if they do get Butler to PHX, they are a Durant or Butler hangnail away from disaster and 2027 & 2029 are a long way off. They are just putting off the inevitable. After this, there are no more bullets to fire before 2032/33 unless they blow it up.

The 1sts Phoenix is getting are late. Late 1st rounders don’t have a ton of value. I guess that’s the best Miami can get for Jimmy, but wouldn’t think Riley would be excited about that return.

home run for Utah though. Danny Ainge just continues to get over on trades.

The kings are 9-1 in their last 10 games ... why would they trade us Fox?
