Along with draft picks being much more valuable, I think we'll also see much fewer max contracts.

Teams are going to be very hesitant to give out huge money for borderline stars. The negative impact on the cap is just too great.

It's crazy to think that only one team in the entire league used their full MLE this past offseason (GSW). In the past, most teams would use their exceptions.

This new CBA changed the league ....

The other thing I find crazy is that the TV deals keep getting more expensive and the cap rising rapidly while viewership has fallen off a cliff ....

I strongly agree with this. The new CBA has really strengthened the Rockets' future outlook, with a host of high potential youngsters and valuable draft picks.

Weird thought: This team doesn't need Jimmy Butler.

Even if we could get him without having to give up any core players, I'd rather let things play out. Seriously.

If we could give them the pupu platter of Brooks and our expiring's I would be hesitant to do it because Yimmy will exercise his option and we will lose our depth. Here is something wild with a few tweaks that would be worth rolling the dice on with the idea we are keeping our guys long term.

    PHX - FVV, 2025, 2027
MIA - Dillon, Jock, Jeff, Tate, 3 2's
    HOU - Durant, Butler

Start Butler, Durant, Green, Sengun, Amen and then Bari, Tari, Cam, Adams, Reed off the bench. I do think this team could win it all now.. I usually don't like this model because it negates a natural PG. I think it forces Jalen to his better core and not a chucker. With all of the individual creators on the court you need less of a floor general. It is a damn solid rotation. Capwise, we would have a bad year next year but when those contracts cancel you have the option to downgrade Durant and Butler.

Phoenix can then move Booker for a super package. It also still keeps a lot of our future powder dry for 2027 and beyond.

I would just do the Durant part. Dillon has been a consumate professional, while Jimmy has become an oft-injured malcontent cancer most everywhere he's been. He just wants another big payday before he gets hurt again.

The Rockets do not need Butler or another star to mess the current team chemistry up. They need more vets with playoff experience to surround the current team. I like CJ McCollum, Harrison Barnes, Patty Mills, Khris Middleton, Torrey Craig,

Butler told Riley that he will not sign a new deal in Miami and intends to only use his $52 million player option in the offseason for 2025-26 as a trade maneuver, sources said.

The Heat have engaged with multiple teams on Butler trade scenarios and have received offers but have been hesitant to negotiate further, sources said. Riley has not shown an urgency in these talks, as the trade deadline looms on Feb. 6, sources added.

Jimmy on our team would be pretty nice, despite not being a 3 point shooter, but man, these are kind of distractions we don't need with us trying to develop Jalen, Sengun, and Amen. Honestly, a closer like Jimmy would be a good thing to have, but it would suck if he killed chemistry.

At this point I would try to outbid PHX for Himmy, just to foouck with them this year. (within reason)

Then trade Jimmy to PHX in off-season.... lol

aren’t all three of those first round picks likely to not be that great?

I understand quantity over quality but I would value the sons 2031 pick over those three first round crappy ones
