ClutchFans Game Thread: Pistons @ Rockets 1/20/2025

Kinda happens when you go more run and gun. The Indiana Pacers style. Our offense has been 1st and our defense 12th this past month. We're 7-3 so far in January.

The 5 upcoming games are going to be *very* interesting for both Sengun and Jalen.

 

Each of those other players that you mentioned had already shown flashes of greatness in the game by this time. Not Reed. All because of the timing. If they would have just left him in the Valley fans would not have a reason to worry. Not seeing him play much at all after his G league stint is really grinding peoples gears.

 

I have two questions - why the hell was this game so early and why did we lose?

 

At the time sarr had played the minutes reed has played, he was maybe the worst player in history. So no, he had not shown anything. Since that ya he has, because he has played like 3 times the minutes. You can't rewrite history just because you hate someone.

 

Amen looked like he belonged but his career high after 360 minutes was 15 points. Shame he never got better oh wait.

I just hate how we’re rolling with Holiday who won’t be on the roster when we contend. Hopefully when Bari comes back Cam will keep his minutes and we never have to see Holiday again.

We gotta trade away our weak players like Brooks. We ain’t going anywhere with this current roster. It’s not good enough to beat the OKCs and others. Close, but a move must be made!

I never wanted him re-signed. He’s a streaky shooter and not a good defender. He also makes bad decisions with the ball.

 

This… he is the Rockets unsung 2nd unit hero. Without him the Rockets just kinda float around and suck on the glass.

Absolutely pathetic, especially after working so hard in the 2nd quarter to get that 1st quarter back. I am particularly disappointed in our “stars” who both do not deserve to be in the all-star game. Pistons play with a real star, that’s for sure. The main reason we lost though is not having anything to counter their zone and aggressive defense. We simply stood around again and didn’t run any sets to make it easier to score. Then after Jeff Green started a game or two, against a very big team, we suddenly go with Jock again? Jeff at least could’ve busted that zone and spread the floor. I saw no calming presence on the floor when Fred was out who himself was erratic today.

I put this on the coaches and our star guys. Brooks showed why he’s nothing more than a guy who rides coattails and can only show up when others play well too. Can never rely on him to be the guy for a while, which is the kind of money we paid for him. I’d at least expect that loudmouth to give us the occasional Tobias Harris performance, but no…where’s that arrogant guy from Memphis who definitely knew how to put up big numbers from time to time? Hope this game shows people who want to replace Jabari that it’s not happening.

On the NBA level, can the league stop forcing the Warriors to be on the national TV schedule?! It’s embarrassing…even moreso how they do not know how to market the new teams who are hot.

 

I know VanVleet is a vet presence and culture setter but dude DOESN'T COME CLOSE to earning his $42 million dollar salary with what he is showing on the court. WTH is up with him lately? His shooting %'s are all way down with his 3P% and FT% the worst he's ever had. His FG% is nearly the same as his rookie year, which was really bad. Something needs to be done.

 

Lol nobody is close to being in the All Star Game....in case the coaches might consider one of them.

 

watched the game this morning... honestly it was just one of those games. every single ball bounced their way and cade + beasley were on fire. Duren sucked in every loose ball like a vacuum.

we couldn't hit the broadside of the barn. Dillon was horrific and Sengun missing bunnies. Jalen cooled down and it looked like his hand was bothering him from the get-go.

 

Yep, just one of those game. I'll chalk it up as mostly a scheduled loss.

 

Rockets lost this game more than the Pistons won it. Cade had 10 turnovers. If either of Jalen or Sengun show up we win. Neither did.

 

Beasley made shots sometimes all it takes was making shots.
