I mean, it has to sound ridiculous right now - even if it's going to happen - doesn't it? The title is in the bag. There's definitely hard lessons coming before that, but I think as long as Stone doesn't give away a lot for a little in any trade, it's just a matter of time.
Pretty damn hard to win a chip in this league, but of course I hope you're right! I think there are still a lot of unknowns regarding, how much better does each young player get, how many more team-friendly extensions can we lock in (if any), do any suitable stars become available at the right time to make sense for us (which I agree probably isn't right now). My hope is that starting now we're going to open up a 5+ year window of being a top 3 seed every year and one of those years, probably at least two more seasons away, we can squeak through the playoffs and go all the way. Parity seems to high in recent times, six different championship winners in the last six years. So I'll just be happy if we can win one.
I think sadly 2 guys from the core won’t pan out in time and that’s kind of expected. No idea how much they’ll improve but I assume just the average for the remaining prospects. Agree the window is open but honestly without fortifying the offense this is not really sustainable. The two players around the core trio should be elite shooters in order to balance the team. I’m not a big believer in winning regular season games by working your players harder than everyone else. We have to get better at making shots and executing offense. Bringing in an experienced playoff scorer could accelerate things for us significantly though.
Sigh. Do you ever feel embarrassed about making these ludicrous threads? Once again Jalen comes out and embarrasses you off the back of a laughable thread.
aaaand... Number 3: ... ALBATROSS! (it's a seabird idnit?) thanks for fueling the welcome digression.
Love the optimism! Not gonna lie though, I'm not yet to the point where I ever truly expect a win, no matter who the opponent. Do I logically deduce that they should win, sure. Expect it? Nope. I've been through too much with the Rockets, and even since Ime they're too inconsistent to trust. I consider them an above average but more or less middle-of-the-pack team. They'll continue to make strides, and I'm totally in the "be patient" camp. I can easily see the possibility of a title, but nowhere near ready to believe.
it is entirely possible we’ve been entitled over the next 5 to 8 years. I also think that we are primed to make an addition or two to give ourselves an immediate 2 to 3 year window. And I think we can essentially pursue both of those timelines at the same time, without having to sacrifice assets or for assets for one or the other.
We have 7 of them but in truth we only need 3. The rest are a bonus. By the team our best 3 are in their early to mid 20’s, we’ll be taking swipes at number 3.
