Everyone was bashing FVV like he was a bad signing...first, we had to spend the money. Secondly, he's an upgrade from KPJ (both as a point guard and person). Thirdly, everyone need to manage their expectations of FVV and what he brings to our team: he's not a dynamic point guard like Steph or D. Fox...FVV is efficient where we have good spacing, which is created when his teammates are making their perimeter shots (made 21 three pointers tonight vs Hornets and we only made 17 three pointers the first 3 games). Lastly, our interior defense sucks...have to admit, Alpi is proving to be our player to build around, but he's a defensive liability...we need growth from Jabari and my gosh Jock Londale sucks balls! We need help at backup Center. I'm done ranting - good night
The sweet future retribution of the "For those hating on Jake Lunchpail" thread will haunt your dreams
Fantastic...I petitioned the league to let us play the Hornets every night. Looking at the schedule (first 13) I see our next (& only) win vs Memphis. 2-11 isn't bad. We never won that many with bad man KPj ; sometimes less (wins) is more
He is fine, just not going to be a consistent huge scorer, but he is a steady hand and will help our young ones grow up. DD
Wut. Hating on somebody who has 40+ million in his pocket, I am sure that dude can just laugh it off. He has a bad game, this will come back one or the other way.
Hint - I said we had to spend the money this year per CBA rules. We had no other viable free agent options to spend that money on...Brook Lopez opted to stay in Milwaukee. We could have brought back James Harden, but at what benefit would it have been for the growth of our other younger players? Dribble, Dribble, Dribble, pass to corner player as the Shot Clock expires - Brick! Our team ranks bottom 5 in league in 3 Pointer % - we've seen this story before.
Can't you spend 50 million on several bench players like Malik Monk, Bruce Brown, whoever is a good bench player. Joe Harris is shooting lights out for them Pistons. It would have been wise to bolster the bench with players greater than Uncle Jeff, Bullock or Landale.
The Rockets haven’t won a game without FVV except for the controversial Knicks game. The Rockets already surpassing their win total from last year is largely due to him and the stability and leadership he brings.
1) He can shoot from the perimeter 2) Makes Sengun, our offense, better. Ofc he's vital for this tean.
I was upset with the VanVeleet signing in lieu of a James Harden reunion. Considering Harden wanted to come back, i could not understand why the Rockets pivoted away from him. Though Harden made the stupid remark he was his own system. But one thing I just notice today, last year both James Harden and Vanvleet posted 8.4 WS last season. However for this season (41 games), Vanvleet has a 3.8 WS and Harden 3.2 WS. Vanvleet is proving undeniably that Stone made the right call. I’m still a huge Harden fan, and respect his game; but Vanvleet is exactly what the Rockets needed. I would have brought James Harden back on a dime, but the right move was to bring in Vanvleet. Hence I am glad to have a competent GM in Stone making these tough decisions.
I'm definitely not hating on FVV. From the very beginning I saw him as an on-court coach. Bro went undrafted, so obviously his work ethic, basketball IQ, and attention to details have set him apart. It's been extremely valuable for the young guys. I think that was the entire point of signing him. There are Raptors fans out there laughing because they think we signed him to win a championship, like he's a superstar. He's not, we all know that. I don't think for a second that was Stone's vision.
The last game showed the duality of FVV. In the first half he was hunting his own shot and not really making them, he just got in the way and the biggest reason we only had. a 1 pt lead at half time. I guess Ime laid down the law in the second half cuz FVV just focused on playmaking, defense and catch and shoot and 3Q Rox blew out the Hornets.
