Lets hope so. If it is, Jabari gets locked up and follows suit with a 4th year leap and Reed takes the mantle....we'd be competing with OKC then.
To become a true number 1 he has to draw more fouls, period. He needs the freebies to elevate his inevitable to come bad shooting games. That comes paired with attacking the rim, but if he doesnt get the contact called hes gonna continue having very loud lows. 2 of 12 for 7pts with 2 ft's is so much worse than 2 of 12 for 11pts and 6 ft's.
Just wanted to say that Antman averages 0.8 ft per game more than Green so I guess he's not a number 1 too?
I'm higher on Jabari and Reed than Jalen. Even still. I'm also more of a fan of things I believe to be able to be replicated than high highs coupled with low lows. Which is what Jalen has been his entire career. Until he proves otherwise I'm still going to treat this as another Jalen hot streak. Bari and Reed are still learning. But they'll ultimately (probably) be the best shooters on the team. Nothing is for certain though.
Ant drives more and is more successful there. Hes also been a better shooter. His lows are naturally better. Of course Ant is a #1 guy and thats with his FTr being down. Jalens lows are louder. Its about raising the Valleys. BTW it is only 0.5ft per game difference and Jalen actually has a higher FTr than Ant. That doesnt change the assessment.
Eye test wise Jabari showed way less than what a rookie green did , Sheppard was only drafted 3rd cause it's one of weakest draft in history
Go compare season 4 with each other .it's not much difference in shooting pts and everything else other than blocks and steals
You are arguing with me as if I havent been one of the few believers in Jalen throughout the dark times. That does not change my analysis. Ant and Jalen are different players even if they are similar. Comparing them does nothing for me, and its something I look at in my free time anyways. If Jalen is to become a superstar #1 guy, he needs to draw more FT's to help alleviate and raise his poor shooting nights he will inevitably have.
It's really hard to judge rookie Green because he had free reign to do whatever with no repercussions. If Reed or Jabari was allowed to shoot whenever....I mean just look at what Reed did in G League. Jalen's biggest strength is his speed and his leaping ability. He might be reaching a point where he's learned to control it. We'll find out in the coming months how for real this is.
Very fair. So get back to us when Reed or Jabari play half a season on 56+ TS% on like 15+ attempts of mostly self-created shots per game with above average defense for their position on the #2 team in the West. I believe Bari’s best shooting season is 36% on roughly 5 attempts. Jalen is currently averaging 36% on 7+ attempts. He’s a better shooter than Bari at the moment. I know Bari will be better but he has to improve as a shooter. Then self created ones. These two guys I love them but they’re years away from having the shot creation abilities to be in that discussion with a good starting two-way SG and best scorer on the #2 team in the West. They’re only a year or two younger than him. Let’s first mold them into successful off ball players before jumping to that kind of aspirational goal.
Jabari if he had the talent of Green would naturally find a way to force himself to be a larger part of the offense through self creation. The first quarter of Green's rookie season he was delegated to the corner. But when he got the ball he had the talent to actually try stuff off he dribble against NBA defenses. Jabari struggles to consistently find shot attempts because he needs set plays that get him good looks through other playmakers. That will always limit the amount of shots you can put up even if you are someone like Jabari who can shoot over most defenders. Because the ability to just shoot over defenders doesn't make a good jump shot. Often those defenders have one arm on the body or using their shoulders to nidge the shooter away which requires a lot of core strength to not get bothered by that. So the tactic of "just pass it to him and he'll just shoot over his defender" isn't a good offensive strategy. Look at NBA defenses and how the full court press Jalen even when he doesn't have the ball in his hands because they try so hard to deny him even getting the ball. Then when he gets it he often gets bloated and doubled with help defenders hedging towards his side to clog his driving lanes. Imagine Jabari having to face that type of defense say in and say out like Jalen. He'd average like 6 turnovers a game.
He already did a negative one on Jalen in November... So he's probably holding out doing another for awhile where he'll have to backtrack on a lot of things he said.
Let's face it, earlier this season we had people saying that TS% and FG% were both irrelevant and only raw points per game mattered. There are a lot of dumb people here, it's nothing new.
Higher on Jabari and Reed than Jalen? LOL Neither of them have superstar potential like Green.... They in combination either lack the degree of athleticism or offensive self creation you need to become that... You can throw "handle" in there as well. This is the majority of the season now... This isn't a "hot streak" Get that money together buddy.
Didn't see those, but yes definitely even dumber.... Now of course even stats like TS% need to be contextualized.... For example if someone where to take that and say... Amen has a 61% TS.... He's the best scorer on the team.... that would also be dumb. Green and then Sengun are our two best scorers. Amen's efficiency is so high largely because he gets the vast majority of his buckets assisted as a cutter, play finisher in the dunker, or transition driver.... He eats off the attention that our most dynamic offensive players generate.
Of course. There's no one metric that tells you everything, though TS% is probably one of the most important when it comes to volume scorers to determine if they are helping the team or hurting the team with their volume. Obviously a dunker is going to have a really high TS% compared to a shooter.
