Established superstars skip the Olympics in basketball ... hence, Altuve should be given a pass in ignoring a relic of the past that only the half-dead corpse of Bud Selig cares about.

He's at 52 bWAR and on pace for 53 by the end of the year. Another 7 by his 39th birthday puts him at 60, which is about the median HoF WAR.

Likely owning the post season home run record will assist him greatly.

The avg 2b HOF is 69.7 bWAR

But there are 10 2b in the HOF who are under 60.

2b had absurd standards for making the hall prior to 2010 ish. Lou Whitaker fell off the ballet on his first vote. 2b for that reason has fewer HoFers than any other position.

It seems like the line of first ballot or not is if they were better or worse than Roberto Alomar.

I think that Altuve needs more counting stats and just a couple more years of league average in better production to be a slam dunk HOF at all, much less first year.

With this new 5 year extension, I'm sure he will do it, but I must say I'm worried.

He is not having a typical Altuve season:
He has the highest K rate of his career
He has his lowest BB rate since 2015.
He has the highest flyball % of his career.
He has his lowest HR/ flyball since 2018.
He also has the highest pull% of his career.

He may be aging before our eyes.

Watching the HOF Ceremony....I had no idea Ozzie Smith's hands are so huge, but it makes sense in retrospect

He has made a mark on the game that is indelible, so he's a guaranteed HOF.
But he has also made a mark on the game that is indelible, which could keep him out.

His transgression isn't really that bad, and because he's likeable, it's a roll of the public mood at the time.

What transgression? A fcking witch hunt on something he had nothing to do with? Fck mlb. If he isn't going to the HOF bc of others, then fck mlb again and I'll be done.

Evidence and teammate corroboration says that Altuve wasn’t part of the sign stealing not that it necessarily matters to voters. He’ll be a no doubt hall of famer but it might not be the first ballot.

Yeah I'm not sure how he totally ignored that fact.

It’s a real shame. Clearly, in 2017, the Astros were better when they didn’t cheat.

I really do not give a damn about the hall of fame but in Altuve's case I would happily burn the damn thing down if he is left out.

The Greatest Astros ever won't get in the HOF?!?!?!?!?!? With MLB and NFL rigging games, so I won't be surprised, but it is not right.
