Sengun’s finishing under the rim is atrocious

This is his career low--last season he shot 69% at the rim, and he improved his rim finishing each prior season in his career until now (67.1% to 67.7% to 69.0%). So clearly he has the capacity to be better than this. I'm currently considering this a prolonged slump. He needs to be better, but this is not a long-term pattern for him.

You also have to consider the fact that he's improved virtually every other part of his game this season (rebounding, playmaking, steals, overall defense). He's regularly turning in double-doubles with 5+ assists.

In any case, like it or not, he's the starting center and the odds of that changing any time in the next few years are slim to none.

Who is #27 and #26 on this list? After looking at those two names, do you think maybe you should rethink this analysis?

Sengun stretches before every game. He can do the splits

or did you want to stretch his neck more so he can block shots with his head?

The finishing around the rim is straight up bad. But we have an entire 2nd half of the season to play. I’m betting it will improve.

Rim finishing definitely needs to get better. Imagine if he starts completing all the bunnies he is currently missing. Just wait peeps, just wait.

Yeah, I was worrying with how bad he has been under the rim. But looking at the list I am worried a lot less. Yes it needs to improve, but it is similar to other self creating Centers.

We waited 3 years for green. We can afford a year for Sengun to get it back.

The air balls are more bothersome than the post play for me, but all in all he makes up for those air balls and lost spin moves with some slick drops to balance it out. He's just never going to be reliable on an every possession basis. That's ok. He's contributing. I just don't think we will ever be able to milk his post play to close out a game.

    Also below average.

Honestly at this point he is trending towards most likely player of our core to be traded.

Tari was awful his rookie year. Like, the worst I’ve ever seen. He seems to have gotten better. Maybe he can share notes with Sengun.

The real point is......would the team be better for everyone with a traditional rim/running center?

Would it open the game up for others more?

What is better for the whole?

Not too shabby. 65% beats my eye-test. I thought he was well below that.

Moses Malone used to miss bunnies too and he turned out alright. The guy took a sweetheart deal to stay a Rocket and all we do is rip him. Only legit flaw he has is he’s a terrible free throw shooter. So were Shaq and Dwight and they had ok careers.

Bruno Fernando is available. I am sure we can get KPJ too.
