The closest thing I will ever have to inside information is an OC under a HC who calls his own Offensive plays might have interest if an OC with a defensive HC like Ryans is interested. I don't want to say more because it could reflect poorly on the coach who was related to my friend by marriage. I suspect this would include Houston if Slowik moves on to a HC position. I don't think he's totally out of the consideration for HC openings or even tweeners like Assistant HC for Offense. Please remember this is a friend of a former relative speculating, so only a very loose interpretation of inside info.
Was watching some Spags 2007 Giants vs Cowboys and 2012 Saints, you can get his defense in the ground game with the halfback toss. We haven't seen it consistently since Slo put it in his back pocket after week 12. Bring it back, Slo'.
It's crazy when you think of how injury riddled this team has been the past two years. Imagine having a wide receiver, running back or tight end as tough and durable as guys like Jason Witten with 179 consecutive starts, Tim Brown with 176, or Walter Payton with 170. I can't even imagine having anyone with 40 straight starts, let alone 170. We rarely have anyone even play 16 games straight at those positions.
I understand. But this is a conversation with a friend who is connected with a very famous family of coaches. But Slowik has interviewed with Atlanta and the Jets now, A possible OC who would like to prove himself actually calling plays might have interest. But we already have internal candidates, I don't know how they would go about replacing Slowik if he moves on.
Good detective work. Now this is not his statement, it's his former relative's speculation. They maintain contact because of his children.
