Having a game like this after basically having to miss the whole second quarter and starting the third ICE COLD is incredible. And Jalen is so fun to watch when he's playing well, he is a very very loud player, in that all his points--besides FTs--end to be very aesthetically pleasing even on nights where he struggles. That's why I think he's tailor made to be a star in this league, as long as he can keep up the consistency like he has been (and I don't need 50/50/95 shooting, just consistent focus on offense). I'm just glad that when he was at his lowest point that I kept on glazing this man, because it seems like he will reward my faith and optimism! Also, if the narrative around the league becomes "Jalen is an up and coming star", watch the calls start to come, the officiating start to shift. Media plays a big role in that, and he showed out today on National TV. Just wish we got the dub, too.
The bar is starting to get raised way too high, no he has not improved to the point where he's ready to average Allen Iverson numbers plus good defense for the season. I assure you that lol. Just need 22-23 efficient points per game which would be leading the team and better than average defense from him. Unselfish moving the ball, not needing to get hero assists. That should lock us in for homecourt advantage. I like the more balanced offense both for him and the team. Jabari and Amen should always be getting shots.
yes, he needs first -- to establish a solid floor of 22-23 efficient points per game -- then soar as high as he can
I think this is not a fluke and he actually figured it out. My skepticism is fading. Amen, Alpi, Jalen. All three have #2 on a championship team potential, arguably more. It's a very solid core. And we have lots of assets we can cash in to get them help on top. This team will go the distance. Maybe not this year but it's coming.
Sam Vecenie currently the only human on earth creating videos for Rockets not named Jalen Green. Total coincidence, it just happened to be the way his content was scheduled. He's SO GOOD at finding silver linings about players, I had no idea. With all due respect to our roster of course, we've been winning in a very balanced way and Green has only recently shown up. But this past 2 weeks, come on, Green is the commodity that's popping at the moment. So many media channels talking about him.
Only thing missing is Jalen getting a 'star' whistle. Its coming. After that shtshow last night Im fully expecting Jalen to start getting the calls that have been ignored thus far in his career. He's averaging 4 FTA per game -- if he can get that number to around 8 he will flourish.
Great game from Jalen last night. Amen and him had a little too many turnovers (7) but it was a B2B and he still kept us in it. He is doing a much better job threading the double teams and hitting Alpy on the roll. They're coming along. Seems like Mobley, Cade and Jalen are all potentially doing a "4th year" leap instead of a 3rd year leap. I do wonder how much COVID stunted development with some of these kids.
Assists are coming too. Jalen is out there breaking down the defense and kicking. I have to wipe my eyes a few times per game and pinch myself. Its an epiphany of sorts.
