I swear if Seven is in a groove and Slowik calls another HB or WR option pass, I'm going to lose my mind up in hea' up in hea'.
Except for the last 2 games when has 7 been in a groove for an extended period of time this year? Notice that Slowik didn't call the plays you described in the last 2 games. There's a reason that those plays haven't been called lately. I'm just hoping Slowik doesn't call a pass play on a 1st and goal from the one yd line when they're running the ball well.
In the last game, wasn't Mixon's fumble during the Texan's first series after the half, a HB pass option? According to Ian Eagle it was.
I don't think it was, but even if it was Slowik certainly wasn't responsible for the fumble and they were searching for answers because CJ hadn't started to play well yet. After the lucky play it's like a light went on that told him the underneath stuff was open. It had been open all game.
IDK. It looks like he could be faking it on his own to stall the linebacker. Is there another angle that shows the potential receiver? He doesn’t seem to have any clue that the ball might be coming his way as a pass, it looks like he could be about to engage in a block. I know he has called these, before and I hate them. Even when they do work I can't stand them. I just don't see it here.
Yea i saw it as more of a juke move/hezzy than an attempt to pass. But could be wrong. I also don't blame Slowik for the fumble.
I'm fairly certain it wasn't a pass. Schultz and Metchie are blocking at the LOS and watch X on the video (right of the screen) - he is preparing to block downfield (his back is to the play), which would be illegal if Mixon were passing. He's certainly not running a route. That means there would've been one WR on the play. If that was a HB option, it's as poorly designed as one could possibly be. I think Mixon was either faking it to try and move the D or hot-dogging it (watch, like, any Walter Payton run - that's how he holds the football).
Why would they throw the ball backwards 2 yards? You never do that and risk a fumble unless there is an option to pass.
To get the ball to the RB with space between him and the defense. Are you saying you can not throw the ball to Mixon like that and have him run?
