I always wanted to get him one more ring to really put some pressure on him to wear the cap with the H on it during enshrinement.
I wish he won here again, but only because I want to win. I wish he went back to Detroit is he was going to leave (either time). Detroit deserves to have him wearing a Tigers cap and I never would want to rob them of that despite his great 2nd life here.
not a good sign for the "the handshake agreement with the Dodgers is fake news" angle his agent chose to go with a few weeks ago
As much respect and love I have for him as an Astro...he's a Tiger. I don't think he should go in wearing any other hat.
Was this posted already? https://climbingtalshill.com/astros-reportedly-interested-former-twins-all-star Says Astros offered Polanco 1 year $5 million. Yankees also interested.
From what I can tell, he doesn't seem to hit RH pitching very well. I hope he is not the kind of player we are adding to the OF.
He is a career wRC+ 115 against RHP. For reference, last season Yainer Diaz hit for a 113 wRC+ against RHP. Polanco has posted a season of 127 wRC+ or better against RHP 4 times in his career. He is not a guarantee but for $5M he is an excellent upside play and would project to be a solid 6 hole hitter against RHP. His most likely outcomes are either average or excellent, he is very unlikely to be a poor hitter against RHP.
Maybe that's why he didn't sign. It's too good. Heck even at $7 million ill be fine. Think he'll have a bounce back season
Yep, any 7 figure contract is a bargain for Polanco and he’s probably a decent value at anything under $15M.
11 games in the minors. More realistically it would be tied to Dubon being everyday CF, which would suck.
I don’t think so; playing Dubon everyday over Meyers doesn't improve anything. I don’t think they sign Polanco unless they think he can play LF most days. Sure, he’d still get some spot starts at 3B and 2B and maybe even SS, but the only bulk ABs Houston has available are in the OF and they’d need Polanco to be in the everyday lineup against RHP.
I suspect Polanco would be better to put in LF, because he is a little faster but also because Paredes is better and more experienced at 3B. Estimated Breakdown of playing time if Houston signs Polanco: C: Diaz 70%, Caratini 30% 1B: Walker 90%, Singleton 10% 2B: Altuve 80%, Polanco 15%, Dubon 5% SS: Pena 90%, Dubon 10% 3B: Paredes 85%, Dubon 10%, Polanco 5% RF: TBD (Trammell, Hummel, Dezenzo, Leon) 60%, McCormick 30%, Dubon 10% CF: McCormick 55%, Meyers 35%, Dubon 10% LF: Polanco 65%, Dubon 20%, Alvarez 10%, McCormick 5% DH: Alvarez 80%, Altuve 10%, Diaz 5%, Singleton 5%
