Thanks for the info, Yeah as someone from overseas I really don’t understand the whole tip thing, but oh well I have to deal with it when I am there. I gather fast food shops are similar to starbucks and don’t require a tip? Thank you for your correction, although I don’t mind the odd detour I noticed there is an ET pretty much next to Ninfas Maybe I can do both one after the other. Thanks for deciding my place! I feel like I have to write a whole bunch of restaurant reviews for you guys
I remember going to the original Ninfas for my High School Graduation dinner. I showed up still wearing my cap and gown.
Actually, Ninfa's is pretty close to Cidarcade. So you can go play some arcade games (see if my high score on Tron is still there, my initials are AFK) and take a quick uber to Ninfa's. Or the other way around. This is what we did the last time I took the fam to a Rocket's game.
When we went, my wife played a centipede game for 3 hours (that is the only game she plays) and had all 10 high scores.
We are back home now Thanks to those that contributed to ideas and suggestions me and my son had a great time in Houston. What we ended up doing 29th - Rockets game 30th - Cidercade and WWE 31st - Texas Bowl 1st - Rockets game 2nd - Houston Space centre 3rd - Cidercade and Rockets game My son particularly loved the Cidercade. We went their twice. Seriously great value for money considering what you get. Also the Discovery Green was a really dangerous place to walk past after the rockets games, he would see other kids playing at 9-10pm and wants to play to, then we would end up getting back to hotel at like 11:30pm and sleep in the next day.
Any food spots you visited?? coming to Houston, that’s a must if anything, I think that’s our calling card since we aren’t as touristy as other cities
Ha, I was at that game. Stupid celtics..... Glad you enjoyed Cidercade. Whoever came up with that idea is a genius. Just wish they have a better beer selection. Wondering why you thought Discovery Green was dangerous? There are definitely parts of downtown you want to avoid because of the homeless people but I thought DG was pretty safe, especially on game nights.
I think he meant "dangerous" not in the American way like bang bang. But more like dangerous b/c his son would want to hoop for a couple of late night hours when the dad would rather get a little sleep. (maybe?)
We hit up Ninfas on navigation when we went to Cidercade, it was within walking distance, so we played some games in the morning, went to ninfas for lunch then went back to cidercade for some afternoon games. We also went to Truth bbq, this was one of my favorite places of the whole US trip, I was sooo full after this cause I ordered too much. We actually walked to cidercade from downtown, crossing under that highway there is a lot of homeless, didn't feel 100% safe. We also had to go under a train carriage at the train signals as it had stopped and was blocking our way. My son got a rush from that. Just as B-Bob said, dangerous being a different meaning. You got that right buddy. Americans don't use the word dangerous in this meaning? I have a nice story from the Rockets game day in Memphis, so keep your eyes peeled for that in the Rockets section.
No we are terrified of random strangers in this country, despite falling crime statistics. I think it's a national pastime, bigger than baseball! So glad you had an excellent trip to my hometown. I love Houston.
Ah, I just reread that and now it makes total sense. Sounds like you got a pretty good Houston experience. TexMex, BBQ and Rockets!
