Well, the fact that this thread had a long hiatus might mean that it was a jinx thread in the first place.
I agree. It seems to be a lot of blaming x,y, and z on why Jalen isn’t a reliable shooting guard instead of the problem just being him. Reminds me of when the Rockets traded away Capela in order to make the “conditions right” for Westbrook to have free open lanes to play through. In the end it didn’t matter because an inefficient player is an inefficient player. And all that doesn’t matter in the playoffs when defenses get tight. No one is going to let you constantly run to dunk all the time. If you’re a shooting guard that can’t shoot consistently then that’s on you. Quit blaming everyone else.
I agree. People who apply context and nuance are just kinda stupid. Anytime someone uses context and nuance understand it's always meant to be an excuse. There is no such thing as context and nuance in the real world. Just beta b****es making excuses.
I think your memory is fuzzy on this, we achieved the highest TS% of WB's career up to that point until he got injured. His paint numbers were Shaq-like. It 100% worked for WB. It just didn't make a net difference to the team because we were then downgraded at C, which made it a net neutral.
JG had substantially upped his D this year. Lately, he's looked better across the board. NOW, we're starting to see the Killer. I'm digging it big time. This certainly bodes well for our Rockets. I'm ready for that big plate of crow!
Okay, this is not a jinx thread after all. I'll give you that. But I really hate the "Jater" "Sengunatics" etc. labels. These are lazy ways to shut off meaningful discussions by lumping criticisms or supports of certain players and eliminating any nuances. I'd suggest people who want good discussions by putting all the idiotic extremists on Ignore and refrain from gloating whenever a player is doing well or doing bad. That will clean up a lot of toxicity on this board.
The problem is not even the gloating but trying to shet on a group, but let it be known that the word does not mean anything to me. The constant baiting and prepotent teenager behavior.
Ah, come on. I know it's not a genuine way to communicate. I'm not being lazy I'm not under the illusion it's positive, I'm just talking trash back to people who found it fun to do the same. For the 'Final Five' Jaters, I can't make any concessions. They have been filthy towards me personally in a way that didn't really have anything to do with Jalen. DD Bobby SamFisher That's the holy trinity of Jaters and I think they understand, it's fair game. There are 2 spots still open, though there are some candidates jostling hard for those spots. I'm not forcing anyone into those two spots. I'm just wondering what kind of Rocket fan has to wait till hell freezes over to enjoy one of our own players who we drafted after we suffered tanking for a year.
I've been critical of Jalen, and I think he's deserved the criticism. He's been quite bad, and has received a very large investment of minutes by the franchise. But I'll be damned if the investment hasn't finally paid off! He's been incredible. This team is a legit contender with this Jalen. I truly hope he keeps it up. I'll admit that more patience was indeed the right move for the org as long as he stays at this level. I'd likely have given up before now.
Jalen Green deserves credit for how he has played the last dozen games or so. He has averaged 26 points a game the last dozen games and 30 points a game his last 6 games. He had a couple bad games in that stretch (the Charlotte game especially), but he has also had some monster games as well. The Rockets are 9-3 during this stretch. Green has also shot better from the field and still played hard on defense. He needs to obviously be consistent but overall it's a good stretch for him and hopefully he carries it over the rest of the season.
He seems to take over but earlier it was more that the team was carrying him...and his shooting. When he carries the team and not Ime and the others, then it is his team for sure. In addition I believe Alpe had a mini monster game against Memphis a fews days ago.
I think the problem is that those labels get applied to anyone who expresses dissenting opinions. Much the same way that those of us who saw the potential in Jalen (and understood experience would refine his game) were called delusional. Anyone saying Jalen wasn't there yet was called a Jater. Those saying Sengun was the team's best player were called Senguniacs (though "Sengoons" would've been funnier ). Those labels should have been reserved for the TRUE Senguniacs and Jaters; we all know who they are. Instead they got thrown around like candy on Halloween. Everybody got one.
