Not everyone needs to be a superstar. Jabari was already really good and playing the best ball of his life before he got injured.
I was screaming for him to be a bit smarter there. He knows the trap is highly likely so don't get the ball right on the sideline and try to start the offense from there. I think he realized the mistake because the next time down he went to the middle of the floor.
Yeah that's my preferred Rockets future backcourt lineup. Amen - Jalen Green - Cam Johnson -- -- --add-- -- -- Tari - Sengun The energy of the Terror Twins paired with the speed and athleticism of Jalen Green and Cam. Sengun doing his thing......Dynasty !!
Are we sure that the leg of isosceles launch points align collaterally with the oblate spheroid of average shot distance in relation to the winter solstice waggle orbit leading to an increase in ordinal numbers among contemporaries?? May need more data.
At the moment, Green is 12th all time in 40+ point games before turning 23. He turns 23 on February 9th -- can he drop another before then and tie Edwards?
Jalen has to be a leader in hockey assists.. a stat i'm surprised isn't well kept. i'm really happy to see him have this game. he's such an easy guy to root for. never in any trouble off the court, only reports that he works hard and listens. seems to take criticism well, which there has been no shortage of... let's hope he keeps rolling because this has been so fun to watch.
Wait, I don't see Corey Brewer in that list. Seriously though, I don't normally put much stock in lists and such but it's hard not to notice that there are no scrubs in that list.
Nope. You don't luck into scoring 40+ points nine times before turning 23. Not to mention he's scored 30+ points 44 times, and that list looks pretty darn similar to the 40+ point one.
He also has the 3rd highest FG% on that list after McAdoo and SHAQ, which is pretty insane. Jalen's highs just as ridiculous as his lows. If Udoka can tame him, lord have mercy.
Starting to see the Denver model duo in Sengun-Green. If Jalen gets this hot, just get out of the way and let him cook. Sengun for grounding the offense when things sputter. Amen is the junkyard dawg out to fit in between everything else lacking
I ain't crazy when I say it, but Jalen in his peak performance looks and plays like a prime Clyde Drexler.
I just think offensive systems make a material difference depending on its compatibility with players - most prominently your key players. I'm certain for example if MDA walked through that door and took over the team, our offense would simply get better without any skills or experience improvement. It doesn't mean he'd win more, but there is no chance in hell Udoka would have a better offense - which means some players' efficiency will go up and someone will have the nerve to say "most star players make a jump early in their career". MDA put Harden in position to score more efficiently or at a higher volume. He made him do more of what he's good at and less of what he's bad at. That's a feature of an offensive system. Different systems will prioritize different things. The Kings system is notorious for exactly what happened: the guard found easier shots and the big became more impactful. It's SO widely agreed this is what happened in Sacramento, ask a Kings fan you respect or something. I can't prove causation, but give me a break bro. I have actual evidence that's far less anecdotal than the idea that stars just pop into existence at a random point early in their careers regardless of coaching or system. A HC announced he's instituting a system that will do that for Fox. Exactly what he said would happen happened. No one disagrees. This would be like you asking me to prove MDA's offense helped Harden. Thing is I know you don't disagree I think you're just playing devil's advocate for some reason. I searched your post history for "MDA". Frankly I know you believe offensive system can make a player more efficient. You believed it about Harden. So I don't get why you're insisting on this and if you're just trying to prove a debate technicality, it's not worth it bro.
I'd say a chance but a very small one, if we're defining superstar as a top 5(ish) player. He can clearly score at the level of a superstar player when he's hot, but his defense, while solid now, is not game-changing, and he's not much of a playmaker, although I think he's also improved there in ways that aren't showing up in the box score. So given that he's mainly just a scorer, he is going to have to basically lead the league in scoring by a several point margin to be at that "superstar" level. Consider the competition right now--Jokic is putting up 31, 13, and 10. Giannis, 31, 12, and 6. SGA, 31, 6 and 6. Tatum, 28, 9, and 9. Luka when healthy you know will be right back in that 30+ points, 8+ rebounds and assists area. That's 5 dudes right there, all really multi-faceted and really high-end scorers. I think his realistic ceiling right now is probably somewhere around the level of a Devin Booker, De'Aaron Fox, Jalen Brunson, or, yes, Ja Morant. So somewhere in that fringey 10-15 range--a "star", not a "superstar". To get there he will have to show a dramatic improvement in the frequency of efficient, high-scoring games, which fortunately is the current trend.
