I feel Memphis is similar and it is their year with all those talents playing together in a very long time.

It is definitely coming together for them as well.

They will get GG back and going. Extremely talented in the Super Saiyan Marcus Morris direction.

What a Smart move but he is always injured.......it has no effect.

 

Brooks is still the more fundamentally sound defender and much more physical. I think it's closer than fans would admit.

 

Brooks actively tries to get into his opponents' heads; sometimes his defense looks better than it actually is.

Amen's defense never goes beyond basketball but actually messes up his opponents. Tonight Ja airballed at least two open threes with Amen as his nearest defender. Jaylen Wells also missed one badly.

Yah, I have always felt that... Maybe he will stick around for a long time if he becomes a super star and wants to grow his brand as a Rocket... I'm just glad we got him... Best player of the draft....

Pretty dumb take. Im not sure he is better than Jabari overall. He does do well against skinny guys he can knock off balance and weak minded players that he can get in their heads. He is a good, not great defender. Amen should be getting dpoy consideration if he starts the rest of the year.

You may be right. What contract are you prepared to offer him at season's end? 5/150?

 

I agree. Dillon, while not shooting great, kept JJJ out of his spots and made him work hard.

 

Something around that. You can see his game and confidence developing, once he adds some size he will be a problem.

I thought the play of the game was Whitemore whipping his towel around encouraging Amen at the line for those two shots

 

That last rebound off the Morant FT miss by Amen was huge. He got to the ball before the other players realized it was even missed.

 

I do wish we had a healthy Tari. Ja wouldn't have a chance to shoot FT's.

 

I got nothing against him, we need him for a run in these playoffs. That said, it feels like one of Dillon, Jabari, Tari, or Cam will be traded before next season. Someone has to go, and I do think Amen will be getting near max money from us. This doesn't even factor in Reed potentially breaking out and playing like a top 3 pick. We can't pay everybody. I'm convinced Amen will never go back to the bench, so some sort of a decision will be made soon. It's far more likely Brooks get moved to the bench, but one might argue that selling high on Jabari makes more sense than lowering Dillon's value.

Making any move involving Jabari is probably too drastic before a 1st playoff berth of this era, but never say never.

 

I don't really think so, Dillon is still one of the better defenders on our team. But he's not close to Amen. I'm not sure there are 2 players in the entire league that play better defense than Amen. He is that special of a defender.

usually you have guys who play good positional defense or guys who get a lot of blocks and steals. Dillon is the former, Amen is both.

Elite athleticism and elite recovery makes mistakes non existent.

They are, imo, equal defenders. Brooks does it with strength, fundamentals and amazing iq.

Amen is more imposing but doesn't have that perfect positioning yet.

I think Amen eventually becomes a dpoy guy, but currently Brooks is just being underrated.

 

Currently, he isn't shooting well. He is getting tired playing defense. I hope he will be rejuvenated after the all star break. We need him to make more 3's.
