No, the trolling is you saying everything people have complained about JG for 3 years. Also the 'sh*tty defense'. Literally every single stat imaginable proves that that's a lie. Keep trolling though, you may get better at it.
yea so the dozens or so people in the game thread saying how bad sengun has been defensively is a planned group effort. get out of your feelings lil man.
He was bad in first half offensively. Actually thought he played really well defensively. Then came back in the clutch to help us seal the win.
I wouldn't say he had a bad night. There were a few foul calls that didn't go his way and caused his minutes to be limited, but he delivered during crunch time with some nice passing and scoring. I loved the 3-man action between he, Jalen, and Amen from the dunkers spot. The first lob to Amen for a dunk I could see coming as soon as they doubled Jalen... unfortunately the second lob to Amen Memphis saw coming as soon as they doubled Jalen But despite a couple of turnovers late, the three of them carried us over the finish line tonight.
Sengun didn't have a good game until the 4th quarter. I was puzzled by the Grizzlies defense in crunch time. They kept trying to trap FVV at the PnR and leaving Sengun wide open doing short roll into the paint. With that much space, he was able to score or make passes with not a lot of resistance.
All three of Jalen, Alpi, Amen had a positive +/-, I noticed. But looks like Jalen definitely carried us tonight offensively. Interesting that Fred limited himself to just 5 shots. Like he saw Jalen had it going and said, ok, I am not getting in the way of that.
I'm wondering if the coaching staff explicitly had a word with FVV about that. Like, earlier in the season there were games where Jalen and Alpi had it going and Fred inserted himself into the mix by attempting a bunch of shots or slowing the game down when we should've been playing through a hot scorer. It seems like overnight Fred has taken a step back and is deferring a lot more often. So either the way he was playing earlier was against his own will, or he was a little too trigger happy and our coaches saw fit to change the scheme a little
I was at a dinner tonight, and I kept glancing at the boxscore - got a bit in trouble for it, but I couldn't help myself. Even without watching the actual game, I was pumping my fist when I saw we went from like 15 down to being 5 up with like 3 seconds to go. Great feeling. Feels so good to be moving in the right direction. All credit to Ime.
Wow, I watched the game and didn't realize that Fred only took 5 shots. He was definitely more involved in getting us into some sets but that is shocking. I'm not sure if this is the new direction or if Coach Udoka\Fred saw Jalen was on a heater (hopefully a bit of both) as you mentioned, but I want it to continue. The future is our young core and the sooner we can get the reigns handed to them the better.
Just to make one thing clear - I will be very happy for Alpi to be the 1B or 1C to Amen and Jalen if Amen and Jalen keep playing great, and if the team keeps winning. Team success over everything.
There's a lot of pro-Jalen, anti-Alpi stuff on Jalen threads, and a lot of pro-Alpi, anti-Jalen stuff on Alpi threads--but here's the thing. It's not like a Terrence Jones/DMO situation where they're competing for minutes and everyone had a favorite of the two. LITERALLY THE TWO OF THEM WOULD BE PERFECT TOGETHER IF THEY BOTH SHINE! So I will continue being a homer for both of these young fellas any chance I get!
Like I mentioned this in another thread couple of days ago. If Jalen can actually be the "numero uno", I am pretty sure FVV won't be as inefficient as he was before. One of the reason FVV has taken this amount of shots is that he definitely belives he is a better shooter than Jalen. He would rather brick it himself than give it to Jalen to brick it. Since Jalen was indeed an inefficient scorer, FVV may actually think this is his team. He feels he is entitled to control the ball all the time and shoot whenever he wants. But, at the same time, FVV is also a championship guard, a veteran with awareness. If Jalen continues the good work, I think FVV knows who should handle the ball and won't stand in the way.
They trapped Jalen and caused 1-2 turnovers down the stretch, maybe they didn't switch their strategy at all. It's crazy when Jalen does well how open Sengun can be in that short roll spot and Amen in the dunker spot
Jalens handles are still shaky. He almost got stripped at the end there in the backcourt but he recovered and passed the ball to FVV. I still think even when Green is on a heater FVV and Sengun should still initiate the offense down the stretch to set up Green. They are more secure with the ball
