Probably someone overpaid. Real superstars wont be traded most of the time. Like will Luka, Giannis, Wemby, Jokic be available for that package? Probably not, but we can get Zach Lavine, Jimmy Buckets, Brandon Ingram lol

I think Reed will replace Fred eventually and Jabari will replace Dillon barring some sort of unforeseen incident. If I had to guess:

    1) Jabari gets extended
    2) FVV deal gets re-worked
    3) Dillon gets an option to come off the bench next season or be traded to a destination of his choice.
    4) FVV/Jalen/Amen/Jabari/Sengun are the starters next year and Reed truly splits minutes with FVV.
    5) Tari goes to RFA if the injury concern is big enough. If it isn't he'll get extended as well.

It’s according to how many picks and how bad the trading team needs to get away from the second apron.

I don't disagree .... but I didn't simply say extend FVV, I stated extend or replace

I've been ahead of the curve on that wanting to replace him now or in the offseason.

Now seems more palatable as the options in the offseason seem limited and you are very limited financially in the offseason unless you pick up the option and trade him which creates more problems.

Jabari at that 5/130 ($26m per) feels like a bargain to me.

That's 61% of his max and I feel that's a very team friendly number.

    No, I don't think he's a max guy ....

It’s a pretty good comparison, but would anyone trade for Jaden McDaniel right now? Minnesota gave him that contract based on his trajectory at the time. They anticipated growth and did not get it. Two years of regression since he signed the extension. He’s probably more of a cautionary tale than anything.

I’m concerned that with the mediocrity in the league now, if the suns get butler our picks are significantly devalued.

You act like KD and Butler are ironmen in the prime of their youth and will play all 82 games.

This whole 3 star thing is already an experiment that KD has tried and failed multiple times. If Harden, KD and irving couldnt make it work in the East I doubt late 30s KD, Butler and Booker will do any better.

I don't see them as comparable.

Jabari isn't a star and probably doesn't have a hell of a lot of upside but he is also a valuable piece, a 3 & D big that you can plug in and not worry about much, he'll give you 12 & 8 just about every night and not need the ball in his hands to do it - he's a very good complimentary piece to star players.

Players like that are valuable, you can't have stars at every position, especially so now with the new CBA rules.

You could do better ..... but it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg.

KD had to play 40 minutes tonight for the Suns to come back against the 8-win Hornets... at home.

    1. I think in this weak nba that’s 4-6th seed in the west at worst 8-9 due to injuries.

    2. Ownership is all in. No incentive to tank considering the draft pick scenario.

    3. Getting butler frees up the ability to move booker if Beal can’t be moved. something that could fill the team out.

    4. They could play a small ball death lineup of Durant at the five, Butler at the four, Booker the three, Beal the two. Point guards dream to run with.

    5. It simply improves their outlook and optionality

So who would they be moving if they get Butler? Nurkic, Grayson, and Royce O'Neale?

I've been playing with the trade machines and the trades between Phx and Mia don't seem to work because they are so far over the cap.

Getting Butler at the expense of Booker doesnt improve their outlook and optionality lol.

This is exactly my thought process. The eventual lineup will be Reed / Green / Amen / Smith / Sengun, with Cam and Eason as sixth/seventh men. And the best part is, if we don't make any major trades, we'll have plenty of draft capital to fill holes and upgrade as necessary.

They’d be swapping one declining $50M player for another, so I doubt there would be drastic improvement. But the Suns seem like the only team that wants him, and he is probably their only trade option. My question is, what do they have to offer a third team to take Beal since the Heat clearly don’t want him? Has anyone seen a hypothetical trade?
