It was great watching Paul Bingbong humbly admit SEC football is no longer what it used to be and that NIL and the transfer portal have evened the playing field at their expense. In his own words, "You've got a team from Indiana and a team from Ohio playing for the national championship in Atlanta".
FWIW, Inside Texas reporting there is optimism Cam Williams will return. Would be big for both sides IMO.
Yeah, that's good and all but why is anyone pretending that Ohio State and Notre ****ing Dame are some sort of scrappy underdogs?
I appreciate what sark has done for the program but sometime he calls the most slow developing plays.
This is what I've settled on: he needs a play-calling OC. Or at least a red zone analyst. We're all rightfully focused on the pitch that lost 8 yards, but it's been two straight seasons of UT having a bottom-of-the-country red zone offense. Sark draws up great plays with space, but something isn't work when the field constricts. Sark and Quinn brought us out of a decade of irrelevance. But their inability to score with a short field prevented us from playing for a national title two years in a row. Good coaches admit when they need help. I'll be upset if Sark is too proud to admit that he needs help in the red zone.
Let's see if things change once we have a mobile QB in terms of Red Zone efficiency. Based on Sark's comments before the Ohio State game, it doesn't look like he's letting up on playcalling duties anytime soon. I think having a mobile QB will also help opponents' defense make it easier for our RBs.
Still not an excuse. Ewers isn't perfect but he's a top 10 quarterback so the efficiency is horrible.
Even if he doesn't give up play calling, he needs to put some new plays in the playbook that isn't going straight ahead or play that take 5 seconds to develop.
Would’ve been a nice weapon to keep but not sure the carries are there for him. Ball security really set him back mid-season but kid can be a dynamic play maker.
Yeah Top 10 quarterback who couldn't take us all the way. Last mobile QB won a natty for us. Arch is more similar to Vince in run capability. I'll take that over any pocket passer.
Oh think he will for sure. He’ll run a 4.4 and a team will take a flyer on him in the mid-rounds IMO.
The loss still hurts a lot, but the future remains bright. And all of our sworn enemies can't touch us: Aggies => Texas 8&4 Sooners => QB hell Arkansas => The stink of the city of Fayetteville
I definitely agree on bringing in some type of analyst but wondering how much of it is on personnel. Ewers was never particularly good in the RZ or on 4th downs. In fact, you could probably say he was actually bad in those particular situations with multiple turnovers, defensive TDs, and missed passes, etc… Hopefully Arch and a healthier RB room changes things but play calling certainly need to improve.
Hopefully but Sark has his work cut out for him. Quite a few early departures although none have been too surprising thus far. IT reporting that they are expecting 2 really good players hit the portal unfortunately. Keeping the 3 "TBD" will loom big. QB: Ewers WR: Bond, Golden RB: Blue OL: Banks, Majors, Conner, Williams TE: Helm, Davis DL: Sorrell, Collins, Broughten, Lole, Norton LB: Gbenda, Blackwell CB: Barron, Holmes S: Makuba TBD: DJ Cambell, Trey Moore, Michael Taaffe
