In 2034, we're still going to be talking about acquiring Tyus Jones lol. The one that got away

We just need to make a minor trade for a shooter at pf. I still want Kelly Olynyk but I’m not sure what his contract looks like and how it will affect our cap space summer 2026

edit: 2 years 13 mil a year. That’s a really good contract. If I was stone I would look into adding him. I’m not sure the Raptors would accept Landale and a second round pick but it wouldn’t hurt to try

Adams playing better and seems to be healthy again. That said if an extension can't be reached, would really like to see Williams reunited with Ime here.

Landale's contract is nice for trades with his non-guarantees and offers the destination team more cap flexibility. But as our Rockets steer towards goal of winning, Olynyk can be a solid upgrade.

Does no one else feel like we're going to hear in 6 months that Hali is unhappy living/playing in Indiana?

I would not trade Reed for Coulibaly.

Fine, but you're overrating Reed imo.

Don’t expect a deal bringing back salary beyond this year. If we do nothing but pick up our player options (Fred, Jock, Holiday) and let all our expiring players go, we will still be in the luxury tax. And that’s before signing any minimum salaries to fill out our empty roster spots.

We could see some moves ahead of the deadline, but I doubt they will be pure upgrades and will probably have as much of an eye on future cap maneuvering. At some point between now and the end of next year, they are going to have to make a trade that sends out more money than it takes back (unless they renegotiate with FVV).

This is a good take. I fear that they will do exactly what you are saying, although I think picking up FVV's option is about as idiotic as anything they have ever done. Not because he is that bad, but he is that wrong of a fit for this team. We need to save Ime from himself.

    They've leaked he's available for multiple 2nds.

So a second round pick and an expiring would do it.

Rather pick up Vucevic at roughly the same price. They want multiple second rounders. He makes $20m per year for 2 seasons only. He would give us a 6MOY candidate who can lift the offense and spread the floor many nights. Play double bigs with Sengun or spread the floor for Amen/Green/Cam.

Would settle for Olynyk though, especially with Bari down. We need a big that can stretch the floor, more than anyone in the NBA.

Do you have inside information on the asking price for Vucevic? It seems the Rockets would pull that trigger ASAP if true.

100% would be interested in Vucevic at that price.

It was widely reported at the beginning of this season (2 SRPs)... I think as his play has maintained the asking price has increased.

I like the idea of Olynyk. Solid stretch 5 option and upgrade to Jock in the 3rd center role. Could play with Sengun as well and gives us added versatility if needed.

Adds much needed shooting and should be cheap to acquire.Jock and a 2nd rd pick or possibly 2 should get it done.

Idk how his defense looks these days but i imagine its not worse than Jocks. He is a bit older but should be a solid veteran piece for 5-10minutes a game.

Dont prescribe to the idea that we wont add salary this year that extends past this season for fear of the luxury tax. I think freds going to get restructed this off-season no matter what or we will move on.

Having Olynyk's expiring contract next season and higher cap hit would help accomodate any surprise all-star trade that may shake loose. Essentially kicking the salary can down the road at a slightly higher value.

Also, Olynyk becomes the psuedo back up 5 next year since Adams would be expiring. Another eye to the future.

It was reported by Jake Fischer IIRC. Two second round picks. It was after they gave up trying to get a first for him.

    Really hope so.
