back then, winning COY of the year means you won't win the chip. nowadays, it means you'll most likely get fired.
I promise you that the decision and timing of Brown being fired was because of ownership and not the GM or assistant GM..... who have to deal with the rants and wild mood swings of the owner.
It is funny that you assume that the GM of the Kings gets to decide which free agents to sign...... the situation in Sacramento would be a complete dumpster fire without the GM who only gets to make decisions half the time, and then half the time he makes the decision, the next day the owner changes his mind.
Sounds like Sacramento is the NBA version of the Dallas Cowboys where the owner’s micromanaging sets the team back every single season
Sacramento is a lot worse than the Cowboys imo. At least the Cowboys owner has a lot of money and isnt afraid to spend it Ranadive is a small time owner and also has an inflated opinion of his bball acumen.
6-1 since firing Mike Brown Won 6 in a row beating the Mavs, 76ers, Grizzlies, Warriors, Heat, Celtics
No Luka, Kyrie, Naji Marshall, Embiid, Oubre, Ja, Butler, etc. in those games from what I can see. The Warriors have won like 5 out of their last 15 games, I think. You could say the Heat win was ok, too, but they're basically a .500 team. The Celtics game was legit beating a really good team. They're playing better (or maybe they are), but those teams were beat up and missing star/good players or have been somewhat mediocre this season to this point. Maybe they have turned the corner, but I'm sure there's a bit of "newness" to their winning - we'll see if it wears off.
Didn't the rockets win a bunch in a row after we let go of James Harden? Then reality set in and the ship started sinking.
You have to be reminded that Mike Brown started out as well in the beginning and led them to the 3rd-4th Seed. 48 Wins was great for the 3rd place that year vs 46 Wins yielded 9th place the next year.... I think the opponents just got better while they stagnated.
The only loss was the first game, where the team didn't know about the coaching change until they were already on the plane to LA, so it's hard to glean much from that. In the 6 wins they've been down a starter in 5 of them, including the last 3 without Fox. Counting rookie Devin Carter who just got healthy and has already broken into the rotation, they haven't played a single game with a full roster this season. They've definitely benefited from some of their opponents being beat up, but it's not like they're running on all cylinders either. Regardless, one of the biggest takeaways is that they're closing games now. Before this winning streak they were something ridiculous like 3-12 in games decided by 5 points or less, so it's not unreasonable to say that they're probably a little better than their record. That seems to be reflected in the fact that their Net Rating is good for 9th in the league (6th in West) and BBRef has their expected record at 22-16 which would also be 9th (5th in West). But as with most things, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle (8th seed'ish?).
Maybe Ranadive was on to something after all lol. The only thing I knew Brown was doing wrong was not playing Keon Ellis.
