Reminds me of Jimmer 40 games 45.8 (FG%) 41.1 (3P%) 90.4% (FT%) 4.4 Rebs 5.0 Asts 21.1 pts https://www.basketball-reference.com/gleague/players/f/fredeji01d.html
He only averaged 3.8 threes before this year, 3 wasnt a major part of his game. Besides why is that worth 50M though?
If he is as good as Tatum Pelicans would extend him not want to trade him away esp since they are looking to move on from Zion.
makes the coaching staff look really bad imo. I rather live with his rookie mistakes and even poor defensive assignments whatever blah blah, there’s no sense in Holiday. dont even try to argue it. even worse if he does get traded and is being showcased because theres no room or patience for him blah blah
Sheppard was in his own head and passed up soo many scoring opportunities; teams targeted him on d. Holiday, on the other hand, has been playing better in every way. The g league made scoot henderson look almost as athletic as Amen... so not much to see here wrt Reed other than hoping that he regains some confidence and performs better when he gets another shot at rockets minutes.
What? No it did not Scoot struggled in the G league so much that they shut him down to avoid hurting his draft stock. DD
Because at his best he is a cross between Leonard and Tatum. He is a baller, New Orleans is just a dysfunctional franchise.
I think Jimmer was a lot older when he was doing this. But, it does serve as a good reminder to folks that playing great in the gleague doesn't mean you will play great in the nba. The opposite is usually true though. Not playing great in the gleague typically means you won't play great in the nba. So, the gleague is more of a way to work on some things and get more reps. The stats are not comparable to nba stats. Most gleague mvp's can't even make an nba roster. We should all be happy for Reed that he is getting confidence back and working on how he can get his shot off on longer defenders. But, we should not assume that he can drop 49 in an nba game tomorrow because he did it in the gleague. Or that this gleague coach has some magic Udoka doesn't have. That's not what this is about.
Doing what he's supposed to do. 40% on 3's at 15 attempts a game (!!!). 7.5 assists to 2.5 TO's. 34ppg a little excessive lol I would prefer 25 points and 10 assists. In order for a top pick to get props for a G League game, he has to perform at this level basically. If he was averaging like 20/5/5 we'd say "well it's g league so that's kind of meaningless". Good he's beating that. You have to gave SOME kind of metric for success in the G League. You can't send someone there and say there's nothing they can do to earn praise.
I was thinking the same thing lol. I was worried he'd average like 18 PPG on so-so efficiency then maybe there isn't that much to be excited about. But 30+ PPG on Steph Curry style efficiency really showing that he really is an NBA player and doesn't belong in the G-League.
Only thing he has in common with Kawhi is sitting in street clothes injured. Ingram has no value to a team trying to compete, guys like him and randle are the worst players to get. I’m passing even if they offer him for free.
I’ve never questioned his skill level and ability to score this efficiently. It’s just a matter of the nba size overwhelming him and smothering his ability to get good shots off. Glad he’s reminding the league why he was a first round pick, but I still haven’t been convinced the size isn’t an issue at the NBA level. We’ll see if he can figure that out when he gets his chance later this season or next year. FVV ain’t going to be here forever and we need another PG long term we likely won’t be able to afford in free agency
It was a mixture of what you said and Ime not allowed to let him play through it due to the overall record and having to win at all cost. Even if he had a little NBA run, he was going to run into a Wall sooner or later.
He is bigger than our 40-million man so I’m not worried about his size. What I am worried about is whether he will revert back to Ben Simmons in the big league, most of his problems are in his head.
