I think a bit of both. Changing a coach is the cheapest and easiest way to shake things up during slumps. And also Christie let Keon Ellis, who's arguably their best defender, out of the doghouse that Mike Brown put him in. Then Devin Carter also joined, and seems to be contributing positively so far.
The players seem to like the vibes Doug brings as a former player. They've also made comments about him simplifying the offense and letting them "just play basketball" instead of overthinking everything. He's also big on positive reinforcement and allows guys to play through their mistakes and foul trouble rather than constantly looking over their shoulder. Fox has been out a few games after taking a hard fall against Memphis, but Malik Monk has done a great job picking up the slack averaging 24/4/9 in his absence. In addition to that, rookie guard Devin Carter just joined the team after summer shoulder surgery and has made an immediate impact on both ends. I'm sure there's a sugar high effect at play, but it really does feel like Doug's personality has taken a weight off these guys. SOURCE: I've watched every Kings game the past 3 seasons.
Appreciate it. So firing him, though he did not necessarily deserve it and the way they went about it was just cold blooded and disgusting, was maybe the right move then. Love me some Monk btw, if he hadn’t worn number 0 I would’ve had a jersey of him in Sacramento already.
You know when Boston misses 30 threes a game, there's bound to be some rebounds available To be fair, I'm more impressed by my countryman's improved shooting. He's hit like 100/250 (40%) threes in the last 3 seasons albeit they're usually wide open ones.
I know Cade Cunningham and some of the other Pistons have been balling lately but it's not coincidence they got on their win big streak when Ausar came back from injury and was inserted into their starting lineup. Those Thompson twins are different.
Definitely. Ausar has very similar instincts on defense to Amen and his energy level is also extremely high. But there are some folks here who think the Pistons might trade him to the Rockets. Yeah, when pigs fly.
