Only those who are dumb. I encourage intelligent disagreement....but let's face it, we have some REALLY dumb posters here. We've had posters saying that Reed Sheppard has bad shot mechanics, we've had posters hyping up absolute scrub after absolute scrub. I give those kinds of posters the respect they deserve, which is VERY little. Sarr, right now, is terrible on both sides of the ball, when the same guy who hypes up players like Stephon Castle and Scoot Henderson, it's just hard to take them seriously. Who should the Rockets want, Wemby, or Scoot Henderson, let's ask the expert... That's the kind of idiocy I have disdain for. There's many times on this board someone has completely changed my mind with a well reasoned, intelligent argument, but they are few and far between.
Right. That's the biggest flaw with the consternation over Reed from some. None of these guys are doing that much and pretty much none would be getting real minutes on the Rockets. I like Castle as a prospect and he's showing some flashes and could turn out to be very good, but in watching a good bit of some of the recent Spurs national tv games the eye test matches his terrible advanced stats that he's a ways from even being a decent NBA player. San Antonio just has very little high-level talent on their roster beyond Wemby and isn't that worried about maximizing number of wins this year. McCain was the one guy really balling who would have pushed for legit minutes on this team and of course is out for the season now in any event. When there was a lot of consternation over how bad Jalen looked for the bulk of his rookie season, a lot of it was because Mobley was looking like at worst a multiple all defense selection who could defend 1 through 5, finish a lob, and knock down shots from at least mid range and Barnes was playing really well.
Rockets had 0 chance of getting Wemby. They had little chance to get Scoot. Plus you said Sarr can't shoot and I simply pointed you to the truth that he is getting better already. Shooting much better than Reed. MUCH better.
In a small sample, he hit some shots bringing him up to 31% on the season... and Sarr is awful on both ends of the court. Do you ever have takes based in reality?
Is 31% better than you expected from Sarr? I see we still have to work on the difference between small samples and large samples.
Sure, he can....but he's basically a modern Matt Bullard, he might as well be a traffic cone on defense.
I watched Reke that year and the Kings specifically made sure he would finish averaging 20/5/5 to help his chances at ROY. It was a huge mistake and went straight to his head.
Sure, but Jack is already 28, slightly older than Dalton Knecht, and he's a decent G league quality player right now. I just don't think it's going to happen for him.
Sarr is on one of the worst teams ever, he's gonna get a ton of minutes and shots no matter how bad he is. The 1sst 2 months he was playing at a worst player in history level, far worse than reed, but he kept getting minutes so eventually he had some decent games. If reed was playing 30 mpg and getting all the shots he wanted his numbers would also look better, that's how it goes. Wiz has a nearly -15 net rating with him on the court, a number that you rarely see in this sport. I think he's talented and will be a good player, but he has been unplayably horrific so far.
Sarr is adjusting to the league and will need to get much stronger, at 7'0 and 205 lbs, 19 years old, but has a ton of talent. He's improving each month so far and I think his ceiling is a Toronto Chris Bosh with much better defense. If you watch in-depth film of him he has all the tools, it will depend if he fulfills that talent over the years.
